Re: Ex Royals

Tbh he’s nearly 21, hasn’t had a sniff at Brighton and currently has 5 career goals in 40 games, all in L1. Doyle scored more than that in 20 games at Crawley last year. Has been subbed off on 60 twice for Barnsley this year as well Not to say he might not turn out to be a very good player but it do...

Re: Hunt out.

Ping 50 yard balls to strikers who can't hold the ball up? Play it around the back until we lose it? It's very similar to last season, isn't it? Only with Fraser instead of Knibbs and O'Mahoney/Kelvin E instead of Wareham. The identity is supposed to be a high pressing side that's trying to defend ...

What was their previous username? IP check pls Brogue x One of my favourite long game alternate usernames was Kes, setting up a user name months in advance, the odd post here and there, nothing controversial, before unleashing the beast. Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

This but with Camara in for O’Mahony/Ehibhatiomhan. Exactly his sort of game Also wouldn’t have 50% of the subs bench being LB’s, even if they can cover other areas! Why is this Camaras sort of game? The ball wont be in the Bolton half very much so it doesn't matter if he has no influence on yet an...

Re: Good uses and bad uses of Liam Fraser

A proper central striker generally is somebody who can hold up play, is good in the air, knows how to lose his marker, can shoot and head a ball. So far the young lad hasn't shown any of those so my point stands that we need a proper striker. And my point stands that the service to him has been so ...

Re: Good uses and bad uses of Liam Fraser

Hunt tried to explain why a fit Elliott wasn't used yesterday but wasn't convincing. Why buy a defensive midfielder who is allowed to roam all over the place? Lack of a sound structure, and not just being without a proper striker, is one of the faults with this side. O Mahony is, and was brought in...

Re: Hunt out.

Scanning the scores at the start of Selles reign, scoring wasn’t really ever the issue. And in cup games we were absolutely smashing them in

Re: Nathan Ferguson

We seem a bit obsessed by ‘loaning players out’. Do L1 clubs really do this a lot? Thinking back a decade or so I can only think of Kelly, Tshbola and Dorsett who ‘benefitted’ from a loan from us anyway and none have exactly pulled up trees as their career has progressed. Loaning Stickland to a L2 ...

Re: Nathan Ferguson

Keith McPherson, Mbengue and even Williams all only 5' 11! Which is short for their position, at least now. So are you saying that Stickland isn't tall enough for his position yet Derick Williams is, even though he's shorter? It’s not necessarily a problem but like I said initially it’s a bit avera...

Re: Nathan Ferguson

I’m not too sure what Stickland really offers. He’s ok all round but not esp big, quick, strong or good on the ball.

As he’s not going to get much quicker or taller then he needs to work a lot on his ability on the ball imo

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

Agree, although I think Garcia continues to be poor on the wing. Yeah and how did he miss that opportunity against the Wombles? Shirley you'd have stuck that one away SR. 1) I'd have been on the treatment table 2) were I not on the treatment table I'd have not had the pace stamina to have run into ...

Re: Hunt out.

The really worrying thing is after 4 games, there is zero idea what our team identity is. That and Hunt's seeming inability to adjust to the actual game, as opposed to what he expects to happen. Criminal that no subs were made before 60 odd minutes, and his justification for not using Elliot is lau...

Re: Hunt out.

I reckon we had as many in our 18 from last season as most teams in this division tbh. He chose not to include Dorsett and Rushesha who played last year as well Not discounting that Mbengue, Bindon and Knibbs were huge losses though The worrying thing is just how disjointed we look coming forward. I...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

That was kinda part of the problem against Wimbledon. Kept too many of the cup players in. Neither Garcia nor Ahmed should have started. I wouldn’t have started either. But I think it’s a bit of a sign of the mixed up thinking to bring them both into the first 11 when they hadn’t previously played ...

Re: Good uses and bad uses of Liam Fraser

Good uses As cover for Wing when injured To be a deeper option that allows Wing to push forward As part of a double pivot when defending a lead or against high calibre opposition Bad uses As an attacking or creative midfielder when Doyle and Elliott are available. Discuss. Hunt tried to explain why...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

Just play the team from the win at Portsmouth, cant see it can do any worse than the current "first team" That was kinda part of the problem against Wimbledon. Kept too many of the cup players in. Neither Garcia nor Ahmed should have started. I wouldn’t have started either. But I think it...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

It’s fairly different. Williams and Dorsett more physical at the back, likewise more physicality up front and one of the DMs out and Doyle (or Elliott) in. Abrefa would be the fb going into midfield rather than Jacob/Dorsett. More threat from set pieces. Otherwise looks like panic to change too much...

Re: Hunt out.

I don’t think we’re the only side to have made a lot of changes tbh

We had Stickland, JP, Savage, Wing, Kelvin, Garcia, Ahmed who started yesterday from last years side with Abrefa, Camara, Elliott on the bench. Dorsett, Ryan and Rushesha fit but not selected

Re: Hunt out.

Lane wouldn’t have been cheap. I doubt we’ve got Doyle, O Mahony for nothing either. Kelvin, Wing and JP will be on a decent wedge

We could have gone far more bargain basement
