Re: Rumour - Reece Welch

The rumoured CBs aren't inspiring me. We have Stickland, Dorsett and Kanu as options who may have good careers but are probably not quite ready to start 45 games. We don't need that sort of player, but that's what we keep being linked with. Where's the rumour of a CB with 100+ EFL appearances to par...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

I'm getting the impression that life in L1 is very much a case of basically doing a yearly squad rebuild. You can't really build long term, anyone young enough and developing well will take their shot at a step up to the champ. I'm really grateful we have a pipeline of promising youngsters coming t...

Re: Ex Royals

Presumably 3rd choice and a quasi coaching role, a bit like Scott Carson at Man City.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Craig was a big success in the midfield role in 23-24 and, while we needed him elsewhere last season, I think we really missed his presence and grit in the middle at times. The starting midfield last season was often very lightweight. Also, if Wing gets injured, I don't know plays DM for us now. Pr...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Would Wifi and Yaks work? Given Couhig's response here? (don't know how reliable the source is) https://x.com/danmarkgreen83/status/1941076619344699501 With full backs who provide width. They're both suited to cutting in and shooting as opposed to getting to the byline and crossing, but the right F...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Confirmed Craig gone to the Orient £££££££ I wasn't aware Orient had £££££. Stockport and Wycombe yes, but do we need to add another historically smaller club to the list? It does confuse a bit; you'd think these mid sized towns/suburbs in London and Manchester with giant clubs on their doorstep wi...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Sounds like Matty Jacobs on loan is basically done and Mark O'Mahony is getting there.

We have 5 loan spots, and if we use them smartly we'll be in great shape.

Re: Rumour - Matty Jacob (LB)

Hull hit with 3 window embargo. May make them unwilling to send players out on loan. Suspect we may be playing against him in L1 next year.

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

Seems we're finding out that running Reading has slightly bigger expectations than running Wycombe. He's set his own expectations. Had he come in and said he was inheriting a mess, we need to stabilise financially and it'll take several years, I'm sure a lot of fans would have still moaned as lots ...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Also rumours online that we've been gazumped to our first choice assistant manager by Leicester, which if true is generating a ludicrous over reaction. Only natural a team recently relegated from the PL would be more appealing, even if they're not in a great state.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Craig was asking to be the highest paid player and wanted 12k per week If that’s true, and I doubt it, he must have a right **** for an agent. I take it all with a pinch of salt; I don't believe it being honest. If true, he obviously didn't want to stay, as he must have known he's not worth that. N...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

If we've lost Craig, I think we should be okay. We have Yiadom, Abrefa and Ryan at RB, surely we can't be as unlucky as last season with injuries again? Then in midfield, this season could be a big chance for Rushesha and Spencer. We should be giving opportunities to them given we have 4 high calibr...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Get the LB deal finalised and then pour any available resource into attacking areas. Then we're not looking too bad.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday…. Club morals

It's the nature of the beast that clubs will drive a hard bargain on signings or pick up players who legitimately leave. I don't blame any of the clubs who got good deals out of us recently because we were over a barrel. No objection to us offering the right player a contract if they walk out on We...

Re: Sheffield Wednesday…. Club morals

Yes. The alternative is that the player joins someone else or is unemployed. I feel awful for Sheffield Wednesday and am glad STAR are offering advice given our recent past, but nothing we do as a club can really influence what happens. Hopefully the dickhead accepts a fair price and ends this sorry...

Re: Rumour - Matty Jacob (LB)

I get we need to monitor budgets, but how much would a transfer fee have been? We need to build a squad over a few years which loans don't give you. If he does well with us, he'll cost more and we'll have competition. I guess the flip side is if he's shit we're not lumbered with him. But I'd like to...

Re: Rival Watch

TV games for L1 on the opening weekend. Luton v Wimbledon kicks off the FL season on August 1, 8pm. Cardiff v Peterborough is the 12.30pm game on August 2, with Stockport v Bolton getting a 12.30pm start on August 3. Have they done away with the shambolic three 12.30 Saturday KOs in each league now...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Dorsett was originally a CB and has been played out of position due to lack of other options. I wonder if a specialist LB is the priority and then Dorsett can add CB depth. Get another senior CB and then you have O'Connor, A.N.Other, Stickland and Dorsett, which seems sufficient there to me. Yiadom ...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

JedMaxwell I have a feeling in the next week or two some of the OOC players might well sign up when they don't get the offers they may have been expecting.

Do we want them if they do? You want players committed to the project and they have demonstrated they are not.
