The whole year inn Derby can pick up points. Especially at home to dog shit teams like Reading.

They are more than capable of comfortably beating Reading on Sunday and it disturbs me that loads of people seem to think RFC will win or draw this.

Derby 2-2 Fulham (a couple of weeks later Fulham pasted Reading - we did not have a shot on goal - Derby scored twice)

Derby 0-0 Sunderland

Fulham 0-0 Derby (How did RFC get on at Craven Cottage?)

Derby 1-1 Bolton (What did Bolton do to us at home?)

They will get a draw at absolute best

You pick 4 games to show they are better than us and we have no chance. I'll pick the rest of the season's games to show we should win.

Whether we do is another matter entirely. Not the wisest comments from Dillon in th ecircumstances but unlikely to do any real harm as Stranded so sensibly says.

There really are some mongs on here.

What exactly was Dillon supposed to say?

"Yeah, we'll be lucky to get a point up there. We're gone and we probably won't go back up again either.
"Then again, it doesn't matter to me because I'll probably be sacked.
"To be honest, I don't even know we're bothering to go up there, we're terrible, it should be us with the record low points score.
"I'd also like to add that we've never been good enough for this league and that last year was a complete and total fluke."

Everyone is ignoring the fact he's spot on, if we can't beat the shittest team ever, then we deserve to go down. No arguement.

It may be true, but from a PR point of view Dillon has been incredibly stupid. For example when we release a player we don’t say they were shit we wish them well etc.

If we needed to sign a player from Derby in the future, Jewell certainly would prefer to deal with someone other than us. Before the biggest game of our season we have got our assistant manager motivating the oppositions team.

IMO being true (which I think it is) is irrelevant, you still shouldn’t slate other people’s team especially when your team is in such a precarious position.

Fully in agreement. We have no right to win this game and from recent perormances we should not expect Reading to. If we'd played all season like the last 2-3 months, we'd be below Derby with even fewer points.
Actually no, we have still picked as many points since January than Derby have all season (11), whilst 4 out of Derby's 11 points have come since Christmas. As bad as we may be, they are worse. However one note of caution is that their home record is better than our away one.

who really gives a oxf*rd who said what. Its all about what happens on the pitch. Derby are the worst team in Prem history so if we cant beat them we should go down and I hope we do because if we stay up we will be the new Derby next season

3 veesinarow As alluded to here and known by many, this can only be seen as karma for the comments made by John Gregory about us when manager of...Derby County, of course...after one of their previous relegations to the Championship. They met us on the first day of the new season and he said words to the effect of you know you've dropped your standards when you find yourself playing the likes of Reading.
We can only hope that Derby aren't as fired up by Dillon's comments as we clearly were that day.

I would take a 3-0 win.

Only if Fulham doesn't win themselves.

Actually we're talking about the time when Gregory slagged us off in the Programme notes a few years back, it riled us up so much we were battered 3-0.

So I was hoping that Dillon's comments would do the same to them.

But we're going to have to go some to match you!

It's not a random comment and it wouldn't have existed had Dillon concentrated on keeping his mouth shut about the opposition and motivating his own team (big flops themselves) just for once this season!

As others have pointed out, we have been more than happy when our own management team have used comments from the opposition to fire up our team and get the result we wanted. However, when others do the same, 'It couldn't possibly work', 'Makes no difference' or does it?!

I like Dillon. He speaks his mind and he's got a great sense of humour. I'll take that character even if once in a blue moon it pisses someone off. If we can't beat Derby even if they're fired up by Dillon's comments we deserve to go down.

The whole year inn Our management team are not exactly bright are they?

Hmmm... I would have said they were though, until very recently. That's what makes it more disappointing. It's normally knob-sack-managers from other clubs who spout crap like this. However, I'm not it's Dillon who has come out with this.

- Last game of the season for Derby (crap season they've had)
- Lots to look forward to (championship, can compete with other teams, will be more a celebration of it finally being over)
- Nothing else to lose
- RFC come to town, and are beatable
- RFC manager calls the team crap

It's all lined up for a Derby "shocker" now isn't it?

So just out of interest, how exactly will these comments have an effect on the game on Sunday?

Are we now any more likely not to get the result we want or need than we were prior to Dillion's comments of Jewell's outburst?

If you believe that this actually has a major effect then please detail how?

With all this crap about what Dillon said, it's all a load of bollocks - Do Newcastle deserve to finish bottom as they are the only team that lost to Derby ?

No but then that wasn't the last game of the season....if we lose to Derby we are relegated...therefore if we lose to Derby we don't deserve to be in the Premier League...

QED.
