I just hope that if this is Murty's last season with us he still gets his testimonial at the end. He fully deserves it.

Should think it will be strange for the manplaying for another club after such a long service to Reading. One thing - good to see is he still has the desire to play even if it is for a team struggling to shore themselves up.

Looks like Murty was at fault for the first goal that Charlton conceded on Saturday.

Good job he is using Charlton to make mistakes and get back to full match sharpness rather than making mistakes in our backline.

I thought it was the error of the defender who took the ball off his head and straight to the Forest player. Murty was all set to head the ball out for a corner.

Parky quote from Charlton website - "You have to get the ones with the right hunger and the two we had out there today in Graeme Murty and Jay McEveley were excellent, especially Graeme, who's only played one game in the last six months.”

Murts had a good game, he's back and when he's at full fitness again, he'll be pushing for that starting place again. You cant write him off yet.....

Just a thought - he is a great reader of the game, very good passer, goodvision, good organisational skills. I think he could really do a proper good job in a Makelele kind of role, sat in front of the back 4, protecting, tidying up and stringing things together from the middle.

Thoughts?

Murty the full back should have been covering the wide player, not colliding with his CB in the middle of the goal mouth. If Murty was not busy colliding with the CB in the CB position then that goal wouldn't have occured.

He stopped his CB clearing the ball properly. And the Fffd up clearance went to the wide man that Murts should have covered who then squared it to Tyson who then rifled home.

But as I say, better that he makes those mistakes whilst regaining match fitness and sharpness for Charlton.

When Murty is fully match fit and sharp, he wouldn't make those mistakes.

Did you ever see what happened to Ince when his legs left him?

I fear it would be a bit like that

I actually went to the match and thought Murts had a very good game. He looked very composed and stood out in a game between two average teams. The other player to note was Shelvey, a 16 year old midfielder for Charlton. He was my motm. I would have said he was far older than 16, by the way he looked so authoritiative on the pitch - taking all the free kicks and corners as well.

I think Murts was at fault for the first goal. They had two defenders versus two attackers and Murts moved off his man to go for the ball, along with the other defender. Although the other defender made a mistake, if Murts had stayed on the Forest player then the ball could have been cleared. Apart from this, and a deserved yellow card for a late tackle, he had an excellent game.

It felt very strange watching Charlton v Forest and having a Reading club captain at RB and an ex Reading club captain as manager!
