RoyalBlue Says someone who clearly isn't a goalkeeper!

Wrong!

If you truly are a keeper then you should be slung out of the union! I've seen plenty of keepers who are far better than the players in front of them and perform miracles to keep their team in games. I've also heard some of the Reading defenders comment on how much easier their life is because they have so much confidence in the man behind them.

I was talking about TB.

Was! A long time ago.

Funnily enough, my best games were when the teams I played for got hammered. So much to do that I was able to make some reasonable saves. When I had a really good back 4 in front of me, playing was certainly a lot easier as, apart from takling to the guys in front of me, I would have very little to do. Where I do agree totally with you is the matter of confidence. Without it, you have no chance and that works both ways.

Don't you know anything? Every football fan up and down the country knows far more than any manager or coach!

Assuming that the TSI takeover goes through this month, coupled with no more need to sell players to balance the books, just how will BMcD be able to keep 3 good goalkeepers happy? 3 into 2 doesn't go.

I expect McCarthy will leave.

tbf- as a young keeper- its par for the course to be waiting for your chance and not playing much.
occupational hazard.

I was one of those clamouring for McCarthy. I was wrong. Feds has surpassed my expectations. I would be quite comfortable with him as our starting keeper next season if we were promoted. If we stay in the championship then I think selling feds and giving McCarthy a go makes the most sense.

McDermott is manager of the season now if we win the league.

To be fair, if we go up, then Feds will obviously be first choice, but then we'll probably ship a load of goals in the first couple of games, potentially opening the door to McC. So it may be worth him staying. Also, he is still young - Feds didn't get his chance properly for ages. I think keepers have to accept that.

Fail to go up - Move Feds on (realistically he's going to want to go and it's not a huge issue for us) and install McCarthy as number 1 - Andersen on loan preferably to a Chump club for experience at this level. Next one down the order (Locke?) for the bench.

Go up - Keep Feds, give McCarthy a season long loan to a good Chump club if possible on the basis that if we go down we'll be selling Feds and he'll be number one. Andersen gets the bench spot, next one down the pecking order gets a L1 or L2 loan.

That's the way I'd do it, if possible. Although I guess it would be just as leigitmate to move on McCarthy if we don't go up. I'd just like to see a home grown talent who may one day play for England be here and play for us as long as possible.

federici made it clear in january that he wanted to move. i strongly suspect that if we don't go up and a bid from a premiership club comes in that he will be allowed to leave. not because we need the money but because he wants to play in the premiership asap.

If we win the league i can't see many other managers winning the award. :?:

Probably. Doesn't stop us selling McCarthy if he wants to go though! The question was how would he keep 3 good goalkeepers happy - chances are one of them will go. Whether that's McCarthy or Feds would depend on where we are at the end of the season I expect.
