Big Ern How utterly humiliated Everton must feel now to have lost to this shower of shite.

Some may argue that Brian can get the best out of these Championship/League 1 players, however if their best is an unchecked relentless march towards relagtion, then we have nothing to lose by sacking him.

Think we should bring in Curbishley now as he nows how to scrap at the bottom of the table. Probably too little too late and I cannot see the club signing players on big wages if we are destined to go down, however it cannot get any worse.

Curbishley?

Has he done anything anywhere other than Charlton? Dear god that's a depressing alternative.

Please not Curbishley or the Mussulini supporting Di Canio. De Matteo has been mentioned on here but why on earth would a European Championship-winning manager come to a team that looks very much like it will be relegated, particularly after I assume Abromovich gave him a huge compensatory package when he was fired? I am sure De Matteo will get far better offers - if that is Reading wanted him - and he can afford to wait and be a bit choosey.

I'm questioning whether he should be sacked now even though I said he should be.

Unless the chairman gives him the financial backing he needs , we can't stay up. So I'm backing him, I just wish he'd take the game by the scruff of the neck more.

Based on his awful transfer dealings over the summer, I'm not sure I'd blame Anton if he decided not to give McDermott any more money to waste.

Hoop Blah Would it be too late to save us now? Probably because we're so far in the shit.

We're not as far in it as it may seem. A win on Tuesday and we're only three back of safety, and the goal differential is not bad, right now. Of course, with Arsenal and Man City coming up, it's not a pretty picture, but a win on Tuesday makes things not so dire as they may currently seem.

That said, who really believes this squad can turn around and win on Tuesday? Confidence has to be at a season low, right now, among both supporters and players.

Why? Because De Matteo isn't just a Champions League manager, he's a manager that was sacked by West Brom and Chelsea for not being very good. He got lucky with the CL win and without that caretaker role wouldn't be anywhere near the top of any short list of candidates for Premier League clubs.

Time is up and therefore as soon as a suitable rerplacement can start. I just hope that they have already started the replacement process.

As you allude to yourself, it's not just the position in the table but the way we've gone about getting there. Despite not getting seriously beaten I've never really felt we've threatened to win games.

Don't have time to read all the comments on all the threads but I think Brian should have one more game, - he really is down to the wire.
The game away to Sunderland is our game in hand; win this and we are still in there battling, lose and we are adrift.
It is a must win game and if we fail to do so I expect Brian to be gone Wednesday morning.

Just a comment on the idea that there is nobody out there who could do better with these players.
That may well be correct but Bournemouth (who we may be playing against next season,oh joy)were struggling a couple of months ago in the lower reaches of Div 1.
They sacked the manager and his assistant and brought back Eddie Howe who himself was having a moderate season at Burnley.

With mainly the same squad of players and in fact with some of the squad moved on they have gone something like unbeaten in 13 games and are now on the fringe of the promotion chase.
I make the point only to illustrate that a change of manager CAN have an impact and even by working with the same players.

RoyalBlue The clown has now demonstrated he's lost the plot!

This is exactly what I DESPISE about some football supporters.

Struggling / out of his depth or just unlucky at the moment - which one doesn't matter... What an absolutely shitty thing to say. Horrendous. You should be fcuking ashamed of yourself. If you were some spotty oik I could just about accept such brainlessness but you're a grown man with a family FFS. Take a look at yourself.

Don't want to lose McD .......but if any other manager worth his salt prepared and watched any of our games he would have us stitched up immediately. We play the same game week in week out - nothing changes. Even the subs that come on , replace exactly the position, style and gameplay as the player coming off. Nothing gets mixed up, no new avenues, no new gameplay, it's obvious. How can you play decent on the floor passing against Man U and the next week hoofball against rubbish. Who decides how they should play ?

Exactly, I made the same point about the impact of Robins at Coventry.
