Fantastic achievement to have reached the play offs with a game to spare slightly tarnished by the limp in with no wins in the last three games including one against relegation fodder and one against the definition of mid-table mediocrity.

What-ever happens we've got a very good result out of this season, but you can't help but think it could have been so much more.

We said we needed 30 points from the final fifteen games

We have 31 points from 14 games, one game to go, and we need one point to guarantee fifth place.

Frankly Mr McDermott, his staff and the players have been OUTstanding
punching well above their weight.

It could also have been so much less...

Major congratulations. McD and the team have exceeded our wildest dreams, despite self-evident weaknesses in the side and a lack of money to bring in top class reinforcements like the others have.

I can't help feeling pessimistic, but I have two grounds for hope:

1. It's possible the loss of form is down to a psychological relaxation after feeling we'd achieved our goal. Faced with the do-or-die of the playoffs, perhaps the team will rediscover the grit and thrust that got it so far in the cup and achieved that spectacular, invincible run.

2. We have not lost away in a very long time, which means we could get something at Swansea. Swansea, by contrast, have, I think, won only one away in six. If those two tendencies play out, that could get us to the final. Of course, if we slip up against Derby, we could be facing Norwich or Cardiff, but out of the four games against those two, we've drawn three, which isn't terrible.

On another note, congratulations to the team for performing well enough to get £50 to a charity. A couple of months ago I put my money where my mouth was and said we wouldn't manage the 2 ppg we'd need to make it into the play offs because we simply hadn't been good enough.

Now I haven't actually checked, but hey we're in the play offs and the Team has been fantastic, so I'm assuming we definitely have and will therefore honour my bet.

I am delighted to be making this donation... but seeing as it was made on HobNob, does anyone have any particular preference or suggestion for where the money goes? Do we have a sponsored charity as a club?

Happy to take suggestions, the one I like most, or the most popular, will get my hard earned.

Finerain - can you keep us updated on what opposition fans on the interspaz think is going to happen, it could have a bearing on whether or not I bother watching the playoffs

That's what I'm thinking. Especially since my Dad's had MS since at least a decade before I was born and it majorly oxf*rd up my family.
