Mr Angry Surely possession per se isn't the key variable; its where you have that possession that counts.

With Swansea (and Southampton) a lot of teams have sussed that you can allow them all the possession they want in the 2/3rds of the pitch from their goal-line, but deny them the ability to do much beyond that. As a result, large possession stats but minimal impact on the goal chances created (and even then, simply using the number of shots as a way of judging efficiency is crude and simplistic - if every shot was from 25 yrds+ out, does that mean the team were good, or defended out of the game?)

As always when people try to read a game and draw conclusions based on stats, it is a fail because there are simply too many individual variables and too many outside influences to take into consideration.

I agree with you Mr A, that stats only show a partial picture, but they can be useful. Far more useful, I suggest, than the subjective and biased opinions that are presented as facts sometimes on this and other forums.

Platypuss He may be a massive helm, but he's OUR massive helm.

No he's not. He might be manager of the club but he's not one of us.

Cue patented HNA? moderator insult in 3, 2, 1...

'One of us'

Tbh, if Nige was a Reading fan rather than the manager then he's exactly the kind of bloke I'd expect to see coming on here and getting into arguments about nowt like the rest of us.

marlowuk I could refute each of your points one by one but that would bore fellow nobbers to death. I do, though, have an Honours degree in Pure Maths and Statistics and have, for many years, marked 'A' level Statistics papers. I do know what I am talking about.

This is priceless. If you could genuinely pull someone to pieces then you would do.

But then what do I know, I only have a First Class Honours Degree in Internet pscyhology from King's College, Cambridge and a doctorate in messageboards from Harvard.

P.S. Yes the guy talks in cliche, and yes maybe the way he talks does make you want to chuck your laptop at your missus' head, but you can't reasonably claim he doesn't care about the club or bought into it's community spirit.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECdVMtSPoKM&feature=c4-overview&list=UU2q3yt0x2irVXrLfeGPv-IA

And who is this 'us' ? Can anyone join?

And what would happen if all of us, who think he is one of us, join the other us?

Uke Guthrie's best performance for Reading?

Agreed, didn't lose the ball once

Oh dear Guthrie haters are in force this weekend
The much maligned Akpan is the man for now but Im pleased for him

I guess each player has their loyal fans on here and when they are playing well they come out on these boards, when they are not they hide and their haters come out
We should just support all our players through the good and bad times because things will change.

Has anyone taken the opportunity to share this work of art on a BWFC forum?

Why does everyone hate Matt Mills?

I honestly didn't know why he was getting booed on Saturday. Didn't he play a part in a tremendous season and score a goal for us in the play-off final before moving on for a profit?
