From Despair To Where? The FAI can't afford to sack him.

How much longer on his contract?

It may be cheaper for them to take out another contract.... I'm sticking him in my death pool.

I'm slightly concerned, The number of ROI Reading players who are mostly moaning (not unreasonably) and the Reading manager hinted he would love to manager ROI one day..... I can see where this might go.

It runs until after the 2014 World Cup.

Yep, 18 months that they can't afford to pay off Trap AND pay a replacement. Let's just write off the World Cup campaign as a bad 'un and plan for the future

Why did the FAI sign him up to such a long contract?

Some Irish billionaire businessman, Denis O'Brien, got involved and stumped up the money because, at that time, it seemed like a good idea. Not sure if Trap was below 65 then or a decent manager. Perhaps O'Brien was drunk. Strange situation, whatever it was.

Bet everyone wishes he'd kept his money to himself or at least stumped up again to get rid of the old pcunt.

I believe he made his money in property development, hardly the most bouyant sectors of an already oxf*rd economy, so he won't have any more spare cash to stump up even if he wanted to.

Can't remember when we he signed the new contract, but remember Ireland were unbeaten in about 15 matches going into the Euros, they were doing ok.
