Row Z Royal Just so you know, we're not a promotion prospect next season.

If we can keep our best players then we should finish top 7. If we lose our best players and don't get decent replacements then we will end up finishing in the bottom 8.

This is nothing like 1995 when not only did we lose everyone but (with all due respect to Quinn/Gooding) we lost our great manager just before. Players come and go but we still have our most important asset: the one and only BRIAN MCDERMOTT :D

I had the same conversation with my brother-in-law on the way out of Wembley. I other big difference from 95 is that the academy is now producing decent players to help fill the holes left by any departures.

Very true.

Plus the stadium etc etc

There are obviously many ways this is different to 1995 and of course every chance we're right in the mix as we have been for the past few seasons. Much as I lament Madejski's recent attitude towards the club, he has turned the club into a different beast. Although upset about losing the fact of the matter is it's just a matter of time before we go up again and establish ourselves as a true yo-yo club.

Yeah this is nothing like 95.
95 was our first season in that stint in the second tier, we lost 3 absolutely key players from a fairly small squad and replaced them badly. Several others never followed up on a one off season of achievement. We had poor facilities and a small fanbase.

Now we're established at this level, we'll lose two or three important players and shouldn't have a case of any / many one season wonders. We've actually got a fairly big squad. We've got great facilities and a fanbase at least twice as big.

URZZZZZZZZ There is every chance that we could be top 6 once again next season. What I would suggest however is that any business we do make, whether it be in or out, is made before the end of July. Those wholesale changes at the end of August meant we were very slow out the blocks, and arguably cost us a place in the top 2.

very very true.

I see Dorus De Vries is out of contract soon. Feds to Swansea anyone?
