BraisingsteakRoyal We've not had a decent set piece taker since Harte & Shorey left.

I'd be interested to see the stats on goals (or even chances created) from corners and free kicks vs when one of those two was playing.

I don't know that exact stats, but id wager that in % of set pieces leading to goals, nobody will come close to Ian Harte during their Reading career.

He's still doing it now at B'mouth.

Caskey had a talent iirc.

Well if you're going to restrict the list to those who played for Reading in the top two tiers the number of candidates is miniscule.

im talking about at any level. Caskey of course didn't completely fail for most of his 6 seasons at the club, 3 of which were at Champ level.

Talking of talent and Bournemouth, didn't Caskey step straight off the bench to score a freekick against Bournemouth?

Superb player but one much maligned by a section of our support who criticised his physique (he was much fitter and faster than he looked and they claimed) and, even when he had his best season of all, claimed it didn't really count as a lot of his goals came from penalties and free-kicks! (I seem to remember the 'fat and unfit' Caskey charging through the centre to score one of the many goals that wasn't a freekick or penalty!)

M Brook
West Stand Flash Had a pop on Twitter last night about having Drenthe in his back pocket (not hard), then after getting some stick back from a Reading fan stated:

"if you knew what I got told after the game, you'd have a different opinion".

Based on that, I took it as if you knew what I got told about Drenthe you wouldn't be speaking up. My guess it's about the ridiculous wages Royston earns? Either way, Harte has made himself look a bit of an arse there & needs to get off his soapbox.

So, does anyone else have any idea what Harte got told about Drentha?

I'll take a guess that he may have been told about the only thing that would annoy a professional player like Harte who has worked hard to keep his fitness levels and make him furious enough to make that sort of out-of-character comment.

The sort of thing that would require a long time of "not playing" while the blood tests returned back to normal.

The sort of thing that would ensure you play for several clubs in a relatively short timescale and difficult to shift onwards.

Why else would he be so happy to have kept Drenthe in his back pocket?

*none of the above make the allegation or the suppositions detailed above correct

Gylfi is probably up there as well for set pieces to goals.
