What's to say Cummings won't be a refreshed player under McD?

When he came in to the side, he was a young kid making his debut in a side playing poorly and the manager under pressure. Not only that but even the likes of Fed, Mills, Kebe, Long, Howard etc. were all struggling and under fire from the crowd. It would be an extremely difficult time to make your debut especially if confidence was already low as well as morale.

I'm sure McD will have the same effect on Cummings as he's had on the rest of the team and we'll see a new player.

Wimb Cummings had an ok first few games then got torn apart by Jerome Thomas, a former Premier League winger and a man who pretty much had the better of Griff (though not quite to the same extent) last weekend.

Cummings was by no means the finished product and was right to get some stick for some displays. But to write off a 20 year old who has been through the Chelsea system and then played for a decent league 1 side (MK Dons) and West Brom before us would be foolish IMO.

Spot on

I never subscribed to the anti-Cummings reports and I believe he will turn out to be a good right back and a good purchase

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe
W&E Royal
Smoking Kills Dancing Doe It's no coincidence that our turn round in form has coincided with the arrival of a full back with a pair of bollox on him.

We might not get Griff, but a tough tackling, no nonsense full back of similar ilk, will be what we require.

Cummings needs to grow 4 inches and put on 2 stone. I've seen him up close and was shocked at just how small he was. Looked like a 1st year academy player.

Cummings is 6 foot!! How tall do you want him to be? If he grew 4" then he'd be as tall as Sonko!
'
Edit: Griffin is 5ft 8" and 10 stone 10. Cummings is 12 stone.

Having stood next to him there is no way in a million years he's even near 6ft.

You must be confusing him with someone else, because he is definitely bigger than Rosenior, Griffin and Bertrand. Frankly I'll trust the OS and my own eyes, over yours.

+1

Worst player i've seen in recent seasons too, not just in defence. I can't remember us having a worse right back. I would rather we put tabb there next season if we can't get griffin.

Yeah well said. Although he did have some awful games there's no reason why he won't prove to be a fantastic player. When he was awful the whole team was awful.

If The Derminator can't sort him, noone can.

Based on how I saw him play earlier this season, I am completely flabbergasted at the fact Cummings was made captain for the reserves (esp in a team with Pearce and Karacan). However, he is young and McDermott has shown how he can turn around players' form so I would be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Even if he manages to bring the ball beyond the halfway line without freezing like a headhog caught in the lights just once, it will be a huge improvement !!

As for Rosenior - fùck off. Came to the club, played shit (any coincidence that we got relegated and then choked with him in the team??) and then left, badmouthing us in the process. Hope he ends up playing for a no-mark team like Cheltenham or Chesterfield

Think that's a bit harsh, if I recall he was swapped for a player that was slated for being lazy and disinterested. He seemed to perform to his best abilities in a team that decided for one reason or another to stop trying as a unit, the very reason they originally did so well. Everyone suddenly became individuals rather than a team, maybe they were fed up or trying to improve their own careers, but Liam stayed true to the team and was turfed out along with Harper for not being in Brendan's plans. As I recall he didn't want to go. Maybe he wasn't too happy and he said a few things, but was entitled to do considering his treatment.
Thought he was a good team player and deserves our support for his efforts.

But Rosenior definitely was in Brendan's plans before the season started. It's only once Brendan saw Rosenior and experienced his attitude first hand that he was no longer in his plans. 'Nuff said, I think ......

He very clearly has a hugely overinflated opinion of himself. He does nothing especially well and plenty of things badly. His only strong attribute was his fitness and every player should have that.

During the ROFLodgers revolution he was the only player to carry on just hoofing long passes aimlessly when everyone else was trying to play nice passing football.

Cpl Jones Dont panic What surprised me was the fact that Cummins was captain with Pearce in the side. It seems like Pearce is near the end of his time at RFC , no longer even considerd vice capt. It was noticable that the web site used the heading that Cummins was capt and that seemed more news than the 7 goals. Could this be the start of BM starting the road to get Cummins back into the mindset of the supporters?

Don`t think Pearce isgoing anywhere, considering he signed a new contract in January.

and Pearcey needs to come to the fore in a really big way now.

He needs to do the business whilst staying uninjured and not suspended.......we are getting down to the bones of our arses in central defence.

Agreed - a raw talent that unfortunately couldn't cope with the pressure of being dropped into an experimental system in a flailing team. He's being brought on gradually and the fact that he was made captain in a reserve team that contained the likes of Pearce and Karacan shows that character building is considered a key part of his development. I'm confident he'll be a decent player for us, and his nurturing will earn the kind of loyalty we were never going to get from Liam. Patience.

The only Dons fans I spoke to described him as a decent player who thought he was better than them and made too many elementary mistakes from being cocky, giving the ball away too easily.
