TBF we did the job today...there were some players who stood out and had good games, while others did what they needed to do...the one thing which stood out the most today was the fact that we seem to have some team spirit back...the encouragement was there...there was no arm flapping and pointing fingers of accusation...

2nd half when the East stand starting singing 'USA' etc during one of the 'injury breaks' ....Hunt called out at Marcus to 'keep his mind on the job' little things like that which seems to have been drummed into them after last season when too many players seemed to get complacent...

If the work ethic is returning albeit against a poor side then we should be alright this season....ok so the stirkers aren't scoring but quite frankly who cares...3 years ago every outfield player scored...relieves the burden on the strikers...it will come...

No goals conceded in the league...only watford can say the same...ok it's only 2 games but hey...clean sheets breed confidence...

Today is the first time I have actually appreciated how much quality USA has. He made everything he did today, look easy and bossed his area superbly. I think he is a player that doesn't always get the plaudits he deserves.

Fair play to Cisse and Kebe, they put in performances today that I wasn't sure either of them had in them, even against a very poor Plymouth side. I still think we need to strengthen these areas as one swallow doesn't make a summer but Kebe showed more basic technical ability today than in any of his previous performances. I'm not getting carried away though as most of his food work seemed to be running in straight lines albeit with a few pretty good crosses at the end of it.

It was encouraging to see us getting the ball down and keeping possession a lot more than over the first two games, even if it did take us 15-2o minutes to get into our stride and find some confidence.

Yes, I thought bringing Noel Hunt on with about 2 minutes to go was a great move as you don't want to knacker out Kevin Doyle by playing him for more than 88 minutes. Good use of a sub to keep Doyle fresh. But disapointed Hunt didn't make use of all that time on the pitch to score a hat trick.

Doyle went off after about 75 minutes. Both him and Lita looked alright if you ask me, and I don't think Coppell needed to make any changes earlier. It was good to get Hunt on the pitch for his home debut under no pressure, so I don't think Coppell can be criticised for that.

Solid, won a few tackles, covered well but his passing is DUMP.

I can only think of one pass he made which didn't reach its target.

Ratings:
USA 6/10- came out of goal a few times when perhaps he shouldn't of. Didn't have much to do.
LR 7/10- good crossing, running and dribbling, a bit suspect defensively and wasn't tackling.
Superman 9/10- fantastic performance capped with two goals.
Ingimarsson 7/10- tidy but not fantastic.
Hunt 7/10- good going forward, linked well with Convey, alright defensively. Not a left back.
Kebe 9/10- fantastic performance, considering some where complaining that he couldn't cross or dribble. He did both very well today. Had a great shot late on and was passing well. A bit slow, but MOTM.
Cisse 9/10- best midfield performance for us ever. Passing was great, a few Marek-esque balls in there. Tackling was good too.
Harper 8/10- good passing, like I said played one lovely through ball for Lita. Tackling was noticably improved, two stand out in my mind.
Convey 8/10- good crossing and dribbling. Unlucky with a shot.
Doyle 7/10- did well down the flanks, but struggled against the physicality of the centre backs. Needs a goal to increase his confidence.
Lita 7/10- ran around a lot. Needs a goal to increase his confidence.

Oh, and three years ago not every outfield player who started scored. Chris Makin didn't.

If that is true then that is shocking! Against a decent team we will get slaughtered and the problem is still in central midfield. We still have not got a combative central midfielder who will tackle and win the ball a la Sidwell, Parkinson, Hurlock, Bowman, etc. How much longer do we have to wait?

Next time JM does his walk on the pitch he should be met with a chorus of (to the tune of "You only sing when you're winning")

A very comfortable win today.
Its hard to judge todays performance. Where we that much better than our recent performances, or we up against a pile of poo.
Unfortunately I thought that Plymouth were pretty cack and made us look better than we may actually be. (They lost to Luton midweek who have trouble getting 11 players on a pitch)
Still you can only beat whats in front of you.
Confidence will be good after that which I suppose is what matters.

The last game I saw Kebe play was against Arsenal. nuff said!

I see a lot of praise for Convey. I thought he was our worst player today, too light weight.

Buy a pucker left back and move Hunt to Conveys position and we may have a better balance. Hunt and Kebe running at the defenders would be an awesome prospect.

Well played Reading ,that was 05/06-esque today; Reading stroll their way to three points with Sonko a colossus at the back. I have to say that Plymouth were truly absymal opposition but we got the ball down and passed it around the park for the most part today, which was a real departure from the long ball dross we had seen thus far. Plenty to work on, but here is to to plenty more routine victories like that.

No win is a crap win, although Dagenham & Redbridge came close to being such. It was a start, Strappers, and a vast improvement on what we have seen thus far this season. I have to say that offered 4 league points and a place in the League Cup 2nd round this time last week I'd have very much taken that.
