I notice that nobody seems to have mentioned the ref. I thought he was excellent and his application of the advantage rule was a lesson to other refs

Doubt Fulham were too pleased with the ref tbf

Gave them a lot of yellows in addition to that Red (although they were way more physical)

Also notice that Magath defended Smith by saying a Reading player wrestled him to the ground off the ball early on which slightly upset him.

That could only have been Pearce, in which case Smith needs to hit the weights as he should still have a significant advantage by the size of him

I thought the ref blew up for a lot of soft fouls in Fulham's favour. But otherwise got pretty much everything spot on.

Mackie pulled his shirt over his head, then pulled to the ground straight after kickoff

Wasn't too impressed with Pearce's actions for Smith's sending off.

Fulham fans were equally unimpressed by Pearce's fist pumping antics. On their forum they also felt the ref let us get away with loads if fouls. Funny how two sets of fans can see things so differently. I thought he was one of the better refs though he did make a one strange advantage decisions

Thing with Smith though he's young and basically a lower league battering ram playing well above his ability. It's not the first time he's been given a straight red in the Championship for a poorly timed clog on someone.

And, even if Mackie did pull his shirt over his head at kick off, doesn't justify going in late with your studs up on a completely different player 20 minutes later.

With the delay to giving fouls (which is incorrect) I believed he thought he was officiating rugby!

Why do you say it's incorrect ?

It's generally seen as good refereeing, although difficult to get right and can end up with you looking silly sometimes.

I thought the referee in general had a great game, the only mistake I remember on his part, was when a Fulham player got tackled and we began to break away which the referee allowed for about 5 seconds but turned around, saw the player still writhing on the ground and gave Fulham a free kick. Would have understood but been a bit miffed that he stopped our break away so the player could get treatment but to award a free kick after initially giving nothing and letting play carry on was a bit bizarre.

Yeah I thought that was odd too and it wasn't the only time he pulled play back after a foul when it was obvious there was no advantage even though he'd allowed play to continue.

Agreed, plus any goalkeeper in tracksuit bottoms deserves to lose. It's not the 90's any more.

Mouldy, do you remember the tracksuit bottoms that Bobby Mihaylov used to wear?

They've got the Fulham logo on, why couldn't they at least have given him yellow trackies to match his shirt? Just lazy.
