madstadblues That is a really good barometer as to when times were really bad. Having said that, seeing the 'TinMan' weave his way through a Bradford defence (in a cup game ?) and score a pearler will always be in my memory along with the disbelief all around me who had ever seen him play previously.

It was indeed a cup game - the league cup or whatever it's called this week. One of the best goals ever scored at the Mad Stad by one of the least inspiring players to have worn the hoops. I remember when the ball came to him out on the wing near the halfway line I shouted "go on Scotty, show 'em your pace". He went past several Bradford Premier League players before slotting it past the keeper. That shut me up for once.

Eaststandman Keith Scott was one of very few players to be stung into activity by the pants day event, I think he scored and threw pants back into the east stand with a 'feck you' response if I recall correctly, so at least he had a pair!

He scored that day and picked up a pair and threw them back. But in an interview afterwards he explained that he threw the pants onto an advert for menswear. It was a placed throw to get onto a target rather than an angry one so I'm inclined to take that explanation. At the time I was sure it was in anger.
