#21forDolan Cycle from Reading to Bristol City

by LWJ » 26 Aug 2015 13:21

On September 19th, Reading FC play Bristol City in Bristol. In the 21st minute of Reading vs Leeds recently, both sides supporters applauded and chanted Eamonn Dolan's name after hearing that he is undergoing chemotherapy.

Instead of getting the train to Bristol on match day, we have decided to cycle the 120km to raise money for a great charity that is researching a cure to the disease that affects so many.

Both Cancer Research and us appreciate every donation, thank you.

Will and Ben

Yep, fair play to Jem, has always been a credit to the club.

I hope they get a box or something preferential as a recognition of their efforts.

I don't want to stand next to some sweaty cyclist who's just committed 120km worth of excersise.

blueroyals How do they plan on getting back?

I asked First Great Western if they would give you both free train tickets from Bristol to Reading, They said they could not do this as they are focussing on Prostate Cancer UK, however they have offered 2 standard class complimentary tickets that can be raffled or auctioned for charity..... I know it's costing them exactly the same as it would if they just gave them to you, but we should respect their rules and organise some sort of auction or raffle - of course you could win the auction with the money going to the 21forDolan charity and with people giving you some funds to help your bid, if necessary.

So PM me if you want them, I need to get back to FGW to accept and arrange delivery.

If you were not planning to train it, they can just be auctioned.

Also - no idea on their bicycles on trains policy.

Is it possible to attend a game these days with out a minutes silence/applause/gesture of recognition.

I blame the mawkish scousers (for everything)

Was that the year we stopped using miles in this country?
