Player Ratings Vs Darlington

by JS28ZoD » 20 Sep 2006 13:50

For those who weren't there these are my ratings for our players against the league two outfit.

Stack - 6 - Did not command his box at all well, and did not claim crosses which should have been his. Could do nothing about the 3 goals though.

Halls - 5 - Looked clueless when in possession and tentative going forward. Got done for pace and general desire too often. One good run into the box but resulted in nothing. A shambles for the second goal.

Bikey - 7 - Looked one of the best players on the park. Good with the ball at his feet, strong in the air (although he did lose a few headers to the big centre forward), good touch, strength and pace. Also good vision and passing range, but made a few wrong decisions. The defence crumbled when he went forward.

Mate - 5 - Played unintelligently, and was taking up some strange defensive positions. For a man of his size, should have been dominant in the air, and he played a number of stray passes that should have been bread and butter. Appeared slow but insisted on sticking close to Joachim who had Mate in his pocket all night. Persistantly fouled as a result and looked out of place.

De La Cruz - 6 - Looked good in the middle third of the park, but was embarrasingly poor at times. Good running with the ball and a few good crosses. But stray passes, missing 2 glorious chances (cringe worhty attempts), and shambolic defending for their second goal marred his performance.

Little - 7 - Consistantly beat his man, whipped good crosses in and provided good width throughout the game. Did not help out enough in defense.

Oster - 8 - My MOM, looked a class above. Worked hard and played some wonderful passes. Tidy distribution of the ball and drove the team forward.

Gunnarsson - 7 - Had a relatively quiet game, but battled hard and tried to keep the ball moving. Didn't do much wrong, but didn't really excell.

Hunt - 7 - Plenty of energy as always, and put a few good crosses into the box. Went close with a great freekick which the goalkeeper tipped onto the post superbly.

Lita - 7 - Made smart runs, and took his second goal with ruthless accuracy. Worked hard and deserved his brace.

Long - 7 - Worked hard and gave his all as we have come to expect from Shane. A few stray touches and looked tired towards the end. But never gave up and his closing down contributed to our first goal.

Verdict - Defensively we were poor, I shudder to think how many they would have scored if Bikey wasn't there at all. We didn't retain possession well enough, which is understandable considering the players are relatively new to each other. A very poor quality game which I feel we edged in the end.

Very good, but no rating for Ken Dodd so I'll only give you, 5/10.

I reckon all those scores are a bit generous...

Plenty of other ratings already on the Darlington match thread.
