Manager of the month?

Surely Coppell must be up there to be considered for manager of the month (again).

We have taken 9 points out of a possible 12 in November.

Our defeat at Liverpool was unacceptable and has probably cost Coppell the Manager of the Month award.

And anyway, Coppell doesn't want the highlight of our season to be a couple of good results in November. It is where we are in May that matters.

last time we one it we went on a terrible run

its a curse to win it in this league

We've got 6 games in december, lets leave that award well alone, I'd much rather take 10 points from the next 6 games!

Not true. Ferguson has won it twice this season and his side sit top of the table.

This months the award should go to Ferguson again as his side have won 3 and drawn 1 of the games in November and if they win on Wednesday it will be even more impressive but not sure if he'll get it as he won it last month and won it in August.

Between Coppell and Ferguson for me.

The talk of a curse makes no sense, unless you believe in the paranormal and Uri Geller. We went on a bad run after Coppell won MOTM because of the fixtures we had.

Even if the fixtures were no harder, you'd mechanically see worse results after winning MOTM. MOTM is awarded after excellent performance, so statistically performance afterwards will be more average, and thus worse than the prior month. (Unless you have a season where you're excellent in every month, like us last season  )

I wonder if the interview on leaguemanagers.com today is a good sign.
CAUTIOUS COPPELL

Sitting just two points off 3rd place in the Premiership, Steve Coppell graciously but reluctantly accepts the plaudits that inevitably head his Reading side’s way. Harsh experience of previous relegations ensures that Coppell remain cautious… viewed by some as pessimistic Sue McCann found Coppell to be very much the realist.

When we spoke pre season, you thought that your promoted team could take the step up to the Premiership but you wouldn’t know until they did; well your gut instinct appears to have been right doesn’t it?

“To a certain extent yes. I know everyone thinks I just deliberately put a damper on things but the test is the season long test. We’ve done well up until this stage, there’s no doubt about that; we’ve picked up points, we’ve got a few hammerings which is what we expected and hopefully we’ve learnt from them. The bottom line is that the elite teams are so much distanced from everybody else and in our real league at the moment we’ve been able to do alright, but the element of surprise that undoubtedly we did have is diminishing and we’ve got to be able to withstand all the tests that are coming.â€
