As mentioned in UR&G, great work by the gaffer.

Promising player, still improving and free.

Result!

And all credit to the Donny fan who said he was signing for us on Friday last week........not often these rumours come true......

Looks like a good signing (even if the Scunthorpe defence was very leaky). Has pace and should be able to link well with McAnuff/Kebe on the left.

If Armstrong is retiring I still think we need another one who can play there.......

Lets hope he's more like Bertrand than Cummings

McDermott's signings will all be well thought out. He'll know exactly what we're getting.

Do the scunthorpe fans rate this guy?

Sweet,

FineRain, they rate him as an attacking full back but not so much as a defending full back iirc. That can be fixed though.

but surely the role of an attacking full back isn't to score..............whats his assist rate like??!

Seems like an ideal replacement for Bertrand IMO. Added bonus of getting him for free so sorts out a problem area without handicapping us in our pursuit of Zurab and Griff.

Good work BMc and Nick.

If he's creating goals or space for others, I'm not sure that really matters.

in 198 appearances you would expect an attacking full back to stick a few away. Anyway, not criticising looks like our type of player

+1

Also good for us fans to have the first signing done early so we can relax a little 8)

Could just be the way he's been asked to play limits his chances in the box, we'll find out next year.

I have to say I am becoming more and more impressed by BMcD with every passing week.

Within days of the season ending, and knowing the LB spot was problematical due to injury etc, BANG, he goes out and fills that gap without so much as a hint in the press. Whether Williams goes on to become Cummings MkII or Bertrand MkII is for the time being immaterial. BMcD was aware of the situation, and put something in place to sort it. What a pleasant change to the previous encumbants antics in the transfer market.

If this goes on much longer, the fear is not whether we can hang onto Siggurdsson et al, it will be far more "can we hang onto McD"!

No one is going to replace bertie, but this guy at least looks like him, maybe we wont notice the difference.
