Club Shop

Is there a problem with the club shop or have they really only got one item left in Training Wear?

Probably the latter!

Unexpected demand no doubt!

One of the worst Club shops I've ever been in is Readings.

Would agree with that. At this time with the club doing so well they have a great chance to cash in with merchandising.

Maybe they have just run out of stock...

Would this be such an outrageous idea?

They don't have enough tacky stuff in there for my liking!!

When you see what some of the other Premier league teams have for sale you realise ours is too small, too understocked and doesn't have enough variety!

If they have any sort of clue about stock control and forecasting, then they shouldn't. Obviously, being RFC, they don't.

I was told that this would NOT happen as it was to do with Meridian.

It is my understanding this was going to be done before then.

No, the likes of Sony do that deliberately to artificially increase demand and hence prices. It also helps to get everyone talking about the product as a hot topic.

I doubt RFC are that clever!

Completely different market, you can't afford to run out of high profit margin items like merchandise. They generally have a shelf life of one season, otherwise people can't be arsed as a new product will replace it. Whereas a games console has a life span of years and generates it's real money from games and ancillaries, rather than the console itself.

Oh deary me.........a mate of mine went into the club shop yesterday looking for some of the tracksuit bottoms that have the zip that allows you to take off the bottom 1/4 thus making them into 3/4 length, perfect for jogging in the cold. The bloke working in there told him they;d sold out to which my friend replied "not a problem no ruch, but when are you getting some more in stock"............now for the magical reply "i'm sorry but we won't be as we only get one delivery for the season and it's nearly all gone, the next stock will be the new pro gear range in the summer".

Now is it me or is that a oxf*rd awful way of running a business i.e. terrible oversight in stock demand, no stock control, and worst of all continually letting the fans down when they want to spend money on their own football club!!??!!! Shocking if it's true what the club shop worker said but why would he lie!

Seems pretty good planning to me. Much better to sell out than have to sell off cheap.

Doubtful to be honest. The club would pay a bulk price and the discount would increase the more they bought with the manufacturer, certainly they would be able to place a scheduled order to at least allow two deliveries in a season with an option for more depending on lead time.

There is that but surely it would make more sense to have two deliveries per season with the second delivery being adjusted according to the popularity of the products delivered first time round.
