Sutekh St Mirren 1-1 ROFLangeROFLs

Once again, they've lost key players and not replaced them with anything approaching the same quality. The contacts book must have walked out the door with Gerrard because recruitment has been awful under Di Matteo, Beale, Clement and now Martin.

Russell Martin is a dreadful appointment though. They could have done a lot worse than go for the Stephen Robertson, the St Mirren manager. He's got them over achieving for the past 3 years.

They've clearly got deeper problems though. Igmane, who was one of the few bright spots last season refused to come on today, claiming he was injured.

Liverpool all over the place in this opening 30 mins. They'd be in trouble if Newcastle had a decent striker...

Is it too soon to call Wirtz a flop?

Absolutely shocking performance from Liverpool. Usual 2 goals conceded. Newcastle’s tactics though seem to be to sihthouse everywhere. Really awful game. And to cap it all SKY’s coverage is worse than usual thanks to their new “refcam” toy

Play on until Liverpool score. The usual Premier League rules then

LUX Really awful game?

Yes. Liverpool were awful so there wasn’t much to watch on that side and Newcastle were disgraceful, nothing but sihthouse tactics and falling over which made the game all stop start and we got the Sky Refcam opportunities

But that Rio is something else, that was the one piece of skill worth waiting for, he’s 17 in 4 days!

If you think that's an awful game, I'd suggest football isn't the sport for you.

I was just about to say that Newcastle v Liverpool consistently delivers drama and belting games, and tonight didn't disappoint.

Sorry but I detest sihthousing. It ruined the game, there was little flow and with Liverpool’s ineptitude on top it wasn’t a great spectacle. The only bit worth watching was the injury time climax. Been some brilliant games between the two down the years but while yesterday had the climax what went before just did not match games like the two 4-3s back in the 90s.

Some finish that from Rio Ngumoha. Pope was part of the way towards that far post and didn't move.
