One of the most interesting BBC blogs I've read. On racism in the game and the English stance. Clearly written before Suarez's verdict.

Found guilty of racism and ONLY an 8 match ban! Shocking stuff!

Can't wait for the 'Justice for Suarez' campaign to kick off.

Why can't Liverpool fans just accept Suarez is in the wrong and be done with it. I suppose it's a bit like Heysel.

What IS like Heysel is them asking where the punishment for Evra is. Trying to deflect attention to their sickening crime.

Only read about this via the last few posts, what have they said about Evra and his punishment? Or was that a poor attempt at humour using a made up comment from Liverpool?

I'm quite surprised by the length of ban based on what sounds like limited evidence. Be interesting to see what happens next.

Ginger Ninjas
2034: Liverpool have released a statement in the light of Luis Suarez's eight-game ban. They are not happy. It says: "We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken."

Hmm, think they may be appealing...

Seems a bit of a jump away from the original defence of 'what he said means something different back in Uraguay' which it seemed was the original response.

Liverpool simply can't be telling the truth there. The FA wouldn't find him guilty based upon Evra's word alone. And as you said above...

Liverpool have removed the statement. Shambles.

Seems they've asked if Evra will be punished for the abusive comments he himself admitted to in his evidence. I guess he won't be though.

As for the lack of evidence, seeing as it's been a six-day hearing you'd hope there was something else to back up the claim as if not only have they wasted a hell of a lot of time and money!

LOL at this on Facebook.

Well, the silly little boys who support Chelsea will be having good laugh tonight, exploiting a serious issue to satisfy their own juvenile prejudices.
What we have seen tonight is the F.A. showing the world what a corrupt, inept joke of an organisation they are, desperately clutching at trumped-up charges as they pander to political correctness.
Luis Suarez, those of us who have the first clue what they are talking about, remain behind you.

Mr Angry Presumably all those posters who were saying that Patrice Evra has "form" and made it up, and that Suarez is innocent will post an apology and admit that they were wrong?????

I am very sorry. I apologise for suggesting that Patrice Evra squeals like a girl for no reason every time someone looks at him. The FA enquiry clearly vindicates him and proves that on some rare occassions, he does actually have justification for behaving like a petulant git.

Tricky decision for Liverpool on whether or not to wear black armbands for their next game.

I'm not scouse lover, but to put some perspective on the statment quoted here. They're not saying that nothing was said, just that no-one else seems to have heard the conversation, so how could the context have been seen to be one that makes him guilty.

Having admitted that he used a racist term he is prima facie guilty, the burden of proof was therefore rightly on Suarez to prove he did not mean it in an abusive way.

He obviously couldn't do this as he is a racist, cheating, dirty little scumbag.

Potentially sets a precedent for a certain J. Terry of Cobham as well?
