LOL @ you angst-ridden gimps sitting in and running up 9 pages of toss on this thread. West Ham were always going to beat Peterborough. Look at the difference in quality in the respective squads; West Ham are loads better than Peterborough.....and us, for that matter. Which makes it absolute JOKES that they are 1 point behind us anyway and frankly LOLzworthy that we might be 4 points ahead again on Saturday night

Oh come off it. Their run in is pretty much exactly the same level of 'toughness' as ours.

See - this is exactly the sort of thing I was talking about.

They have Birmingham, Hull and Brighton at home. We have to play Birmingham, Brighton and Southampton away.

Which of those would you prefer?

winchester_royal It's obviously going to be a really tight end to the season. Which is why I think most will be feeling pretty down tonight.

It's a 2 horse race for promotion now, and we just effectively 'lost' 3 points in that race tonight.

We can only control what we do though. No point getting all hormonal about what others do. If we carry on averaging 2 pts per game we will go up. Have to say it sets it up for an absolute stonker of a game on Sat now. Can't wait!

I'm not arguing with any of that. Can't wait for the game, but it would have been nice to have a 4 point cushion to take into it!

Ah well, all part of the joys of supporting RFC.

Why bother supporting if you just find any reason to be miserable though?!

Even if we did lose on Sat, there are 6 more games & more twists & turns to come. Saturday does not in any way define the final league table. Lets face it...it's fate we need to beat Birmingham on the final day to seal auto.

Written in the stars!

May as well just enjoy the ride........

Guilty as charged. It was the first time this season that I logged in to Reading World just to listen to a radio broadcast of another team. I was hoping for a draw. Despite West Ham being loads better than us, I still think we are going to win on Saturday and force them to use the playoffs to try and get back to the prem. Let them sit back and wait to flip the switch. Hopefully by the time they have we will be promoted.

Some people are pessimistic by nature, others are optimistic.

No need to criticise others, just be glad you're lucky enough to be the latter!

If I was them, with their home and away form... I'd rather be playing away. For us, I'd rather be playing at home.

On the plus side, tonights result paid for my poker loss.

+1.

Saturday is just a case of 'we will see'. The pressure is very much on West Ham.

And I'm £40 up. 8)

Chillax peeps. It would have been nice if the Hammers got hammered but it wasn't in the cards. I have full faith in our lads to do the job on Saturday. This still doesn't take the pressure off of West Ham. Their fans were whinging about the team's direct style today and if P'boro had scored right before the half there would have been a different result imo. West Ham was far from convincing today...

And even if we lose on Saturday I will guarantee you West Ham will be dropping more points before the season is done. I wish I was there and was going to the game...I am f-cking stoked. No fear!!!!

Agreed, 100% with the above.

It would have finished 2-1 West Ham

Well we can always assume it would have or then again it could have changed the way the game was played in the second half resulting in a different outcome than the West Ham 2-1 result you suggest.

Either way we need to go to Upton and take care of business. West Ham will be on 3 days rest, and it appears have some players whom picked up knocks on Tuesday, as opposed to our full week of rest, and possibly getting a key injured player back. I could go on and on about how our form has been better and how they, until Tuesday, appeared to be tight. But both clubs know how massive Saturday is tho, so I am expecting a real cracker. I am hopeful, because I can't say I am cofident, that we will get a result there...preferrably 3 points but I'll take a point.

I think to put it in to a little perspective here, peterboroughs manager said that their win against us was the best they had played all season. They then revert to type losing away at Barnsley at the weekend and rolling over and letting west ham rub their tummies last night.

Over the course of a season you will on a few occasions meet a team who click on the day and play above their normal standard. Peterborough did that against us last week. If they could consistently put in performances like that they would be second not us, but they don't!

We are in second place and west ham will have to come at us and go for the win which is good news for a team that likes to play quickly on the counter attack.....
