TBM Cardiff owner Vincent Tan has informed the club's board that he prefers them to buy players with the number eight in their birth date.

Cardiff's 3-0 defeat by Crystal Palace in early April should not be allowed to stand, the Welsh club have said in a five-page letter seen by the BBC.

The document, sent by club lawyers to the Premier League, alleges Palace boss Tony Pulis knew sporting director Iain Moody was trying to obtain Cardiff's starting line-up before the game.

What a total embarrassment of a club, as if a team sheet (for a team that doesn't change a lot) would affect a result. What exactly is their case based on - was someone allegedly injured that played and because CP knew about it this matchwinner they could mark him out of the game?

How hard would it be for CP to have more than one plan for the slight variation in team selection that might have happened.

Exactly

I mean teams scout opposition weeks in advance and prepare for different situations.

Wont be sad to see Cardiff relegated

Complete and utter bollocks. If Palace had advance knowledge of Cardiff's team, it was because someone working for Cardiff gave it to them so it's entirely Cardiff's fault for letting the information into the hands of someone who couldn't be trusted to keep it secret. Even if someone from Palace made the approach, all they had to do was say "no thanks". They could still make a complaint to the FA and be on the moral high ground.

And Pulis now says he'd already picked his team on Monday and worked on a game plan with this line-up, which when you think about it makes perfect sense. Even if you were handed the opposition team details on the Friday, you're not going to unpick that work.

Maybe if Tan hadn't spent so much time screwing over his staff and supporters, there might not have been people willing to pass on the team details.

Possibly, but these people are still being paid by the club and shouldn't be so stupid as to leave themselves wide open to this accusation. Graham Taylor said on the radio the other day tat this has always gone on and that he used to feed misinformation. Tan is doing a great job of somehow making himself look even more detached from reality than we already thought he was - add this to the fact it's on behalf of a club I genuinely dislike and it's hearty laughs all round for me. :D

When Pardew was here he would regularly tell the local press that Player X was injured and wouldn't play, yet the guy would be in the starting line up - Nick Ive used to get very hacked off with Pards as a result.

Also, Pardew would get very angry with fans watching the training then coming on here and saying 'the team for Saturday is going to be............'

The reality of the Cardiff claim is that Tan hasn't got a clue about how football works and whether someone has leaked the Cardiff team to an opponent the night before the game, proving how that materially affected the result will be tricky. If that succeeds, then what's to stop Norwich 'leaking' their team to Liverpool, and then demand the 3 points after their inevitable defeat?

Tan's only miffed because in Malaysia, it's usually only the result they leak 2 days before a game.

Suggests that the compromise agreement has a clause requiring Mackay to issue such apology for an extra few quid - and he's accepted the term in order to get the cash.
