frimmers3 like many, football fans in aldershot are feeling the pinch and can no longer justify the expense of attending football matches.it is nothing to do with apathy.

Strange that other teams in similar situations right now can get supporters for the big games.

You're right though. It's not to do with apathy. It's to do with not having many fans.

and yet you are in a comparable(or worse) position in your division despite having numerous fans?

I wonder if Aldershot's fans apparent apathy now in their our of need, compared with when the Phoenix club was going through the non league to get back, is down to a view that they can easily return.

Relegation to the "fifth division" not quite the end of the world these days together with the fact the club is fairly stable off the pitch as well.

People will turn up to watch a team winning games, whatever level of football, and numbers go down when what they are watching makes them think they could be doing something better with their Saturday afternoon. Aldershot are no different to anyone else in that respect but 1,500 crowds is still pathetic.

Sad to see Aldershot like this and they should of never got in this mess. No way will they turn around set of results needed to stay up!

As someone who has a soft spot for Barnet and AFC Wimbledon, I couldn't care less for Aldershot today I'm afraid. As Paul says, they should never have got into this position in the first place. I'm sure they will bounce back though.

Bounce back not a chance i am afraid and a common comment I hear said by supporters I know. Only need to look at Luton to see how tough it is to get out of that division. Only need two or three teams a season flush with cash and it's pretty dire to be competitive against top teams.

A magnificent erection that only adds to one of the most iconic grounds in world football. My fear is another Wolves and the money spent making the rec in to a state of the art ground for the 21st century lead to financial problems in years ahead.

Will they be able to fill it for next season's assault on the blue square Premier League?

err, yeah. Being able to stay up in the premier league is a bit harder than doing so in League Two.

paultheroyal Sad to see Aldershot like this and they should of never got in this mess.

Aldershot had 15 years of being a "big fish", and didn't really do amazingly well with the advantages they had over nearly everyone for most of that time.

They get to the league though, and they weren't a big fish any more. They probably had one of the smaller budgets in the whole division, and then the fans got bored with not winning every week and stopped going.

It could actually do them some good by shaking them up to realise they've got to be more professional, rather than relying so heavily on admission money.

Agreed. I have great respect for how they've come back from their troubles. Sadly, in a small town and an army town at that, the club will always be up against it, but I wish you all the best.

I just can't understand the "hate" for Aldershot in whatever form they are now. I used to travel from Newbury on a Friday night to watch them play in the late 80's before seeing us at Elm Park or wherever the next day.

They are what they are. A local club competing these days with Woking and Farnborough. Good luck to them.

Swindon, however......

At least you have a second club to fall back on.

I'm sure they'll be back.
