Bandini I've quite liked Butcher tbh.

Damn I was about to post that. Hope ITV keep him.

Looking forward to Vialli and Klinsmann on BBC too, touchwood.

All this positivity will evaporate when we inevitably lose 6-0 to Germany in the friendly next month.

Butcher upd8: I sort of liked him for his lack of excitability. But it's just been revealed he is a passion8 but ultra nervous England fan. Like me :|

Are the seedlings for the finals based solely on FIFA rankings or do they also factor in previous World Cup performances?

If you go solely by the current top 8 in the rankings then the following will be in pot 1

Germany
Spain
Italy
Brazil
Argentina
Colombia
Belgium
Uruguay

I think there should be a wooden spoon playoff between Andorra and San Marino.

No Fixed Abode Fack me. After Ukraine you were all saying we,re miles behind the best Countries. We've qualified and now we're suddenly contenders.

Get a grip!

I'm fairly sure that you deserve a whoosh

You can't expect to get away with that kind of thing at this level.

Got to see the 2nd half on tape delay. A few thoughts...

First congrats on qualifying. 2 must win games and you won them. The team responded well to the pressure.

Removing Baines or Townsend from the starting 11 right now would be almost criminal. Tuesday the "old guard" stepped up but it is younger, more athletic (but very talented in their own right), players like Welbeck, Wilshere, Townsend, Smalling, Walker, etc who have really transformed the team into a more cohesive, threatening one. With players like Cahill, Rooney and Baines in the prime of their careers, the veteran leadership still there, players like Lambert stepping up and giving the team some options I think England can make some noise in the upcoming WC. I am not quite convinced they will win it, lol. But I can see them making a deep run if this form holds. That is a big "IF", because sometimes I have noticed that good form can be very fleeting.
