Pascal Chimbonda playing for Market Drayton (Evo stik) -

Surely a league club will pick him up?

He's been without a club for over a year, so you would assume that someone would have done by now if they wanted him.

I think his attitude precedes him.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez wants to hold talks with Arsenal over a potential move to the London club.

Suarez believes Arsenal's offer of just over £40m - which was rejected - triggered a clause in his contract that allows him to speak to suitors.

Liverpool interpret the clause differently, but the 26-year-old will inform Reds boss Brendan Rodgers of his wish to meet with Arsenal.

Big Foot How does that work then m8? Surely a bid meating a release clause can't be rejected.

The player has to be told about the bid if it's over £40m. However, Suarez is still under contract, Liverpool don't think £40m is enough, so have rejected the bid. They want nearer £54m as they see Suarez just as good as Cavani.

Surely that is pointless as if Suarez just picked up a newspaper last week he would have read that Arsenal bid £30m for him :|

It means he's free to discuss terms with them.

Which, of course, never usually happens without the selling club's consent.

QPR may suddenly call him up and say "we'll give you an extra £5k a week if you sign for us" - so as said it depends what he is driven by

I'm sure Celtic would have offered him a lot to stay, so doubt money is what's driving him

Mackie off to Forest. Would've thought he'd be one of the few QPR would want to hang on to.

I think I’ve mentioned this before, when Rooney was agitating for a move. Re Suarez, why don’t Liverpool just say ‘you’re staying, suck it up lad and train hard’. Yes, I get that he’s worth £50m to them in fees, but they’ll need to sign a player of similar ability to challenge for the Champions League. And if he stays, Suarez will have to play well to keep himself in the shop window in a year or twos’ time.

He signed a four year contract less than a year ago, why don’t Liverpool hold him to it? I can see why financial considerations would affect this sort of decision sometimes, but this seems like a no-brainer for Liverpool, they will be a lesser side without him.
