Clyde1998 Neither clubs’ fans will be happy with that if it’s a serious proposal.

A couple of other merger attempts between rivals people may not know from Scotland: the Hearts owner tried to buy Hibs back in the 90s; Dundee United almost bought out Dundee around the year 2000.

The latter only collapsed when an ‘incident in a nightclub’ occurred on the weekend prior to the Monday it was supposed to be completed!

Sheffield Wednesday adminiatrators and Sheffield United owners discussing how the new entity will be banded:

SH-U: Well we propose that the new entity will reflect the city and what will be the new harmony between all the citizens
SH-W: Yes sounds a perfect idea, what would you suggest calling the new team?
SH-U: Well it should be a reflection on the history of the clubs and be an equal partnership so we would like to take the same Sheffield from Sheffield Wednesday and add something to reflect the unison between the two clubs, therefore we propose to take the word United from our club name. This way we feel both parties can have equal ownership and commitment to the name....

Wednesday United

They could just change the day of the week

Sheffield City and play in white rather than blue or red?

Looked at from the outside it would make financial sense for the two Sheffield clubs to merge and the two Bristol clubs as well, giving each city the chance of creating one bigger club but football is just so tribal that it probably won't happen there nor in Dundee where the 2 grounds are just so close they nearly touch each other.
.
The same could be done by merging say Reading and Oxford.....................................oh

Could mix the nicknames together to be known as Bowls and then play in brown
