development of the rec is out of the clubs hands. it is a council facility.

There's plenty of rubbish on the Pitch.

frimmers3 development of the rec is out of the clubs hands. it is a council facility.

So if the club said they were going to improve the ground, the council would refuse? Seems unlikely.

Either way, the club currently falls between two stools, being a fairly big conference club, or a small league one. The club just doesn't have the infrastructure to go beyond that.

Sadly, the Rec will probably go the way of the late, lamented Goldstone Ground. It is on a prime site for development.

Why would you want to leave your spiritual home for that?

Would the military support that? That would impact their other facilities; i.e. the running track and athletics, the shot put would have to go...

the military connection is being gradually severed...i think the location with ease of access/parking etc coupled with the equidistance between aldershot/north camp/farnborough would make for an ideal "shared" arena.

"The military connection is being gradually severed" yet you think they'll be happy for you to move in and build stands on their running track? I think they'll tell you to nob off. Wouldn't a ground share with a local club make more sense, as every party has to be happy with it, not just Aldershot Town.

Well you haven't answered if this is something the military would be happy with? Bearing in mind you will want to erect stands on their running track and remove their athletics equipment that would be in the way. All you've suggested is this is good for the football club, even though they want to distance themselves from the very people you want to share a stadium with.

as stated, the army is becoming less of an influence.and they have the rushmore arena at their disposal

With three and a half stands and falling crowds why the need to develop?
