...not to be for Basingstoke smashed 4-1 at Alwyns Lane tonight (Wed) att 1,109 - 'Curfews' Keeper Jupp red Carded on 55' with the score 2-0 - Chertsey grabbed two quick goals at the death 89' & 90' and the 'Dragons' notched a consolation soon after.

- so Chertsey host Hanwell, who won 3-1 at Bedfont Sports, in the IL1-South Central PO Final on Monday

...and 4th and 5th both upset higher finishing hosts (2-3 wins) in the Premier S-Fs tonight, with Hornchurch winning at Enfield & Cheshunt winning at Bps Stortford. They meet in the Final on BH Mon @ Hornchurch to see who steps up to National South

- will be a big advancement for Cheshunt who have been stuck around STEP04 for what seems like forever in recent times and I'm quite surprised their ground meets grading for STEP02: Theobalds Lane has always seemed a tad on the temporary/derelict side on the couple of times I've visited over the last few years.

.. has also been infamously pig-awkward to get to - with a very narrow access road off a southbound-only dual carriageway spur of the A10 N of M25 jn 25. You can try and access via Cheshunt High St nr Theobalds Grove Station but I wouldn't recommend it - not well signed. I s'posed they have time to remedy that though?

here's Saturday's matches - B/H Mon to follow on soon-ish -

This maybe one for FoC but anybody who knows can answer it

Mitch Parker who seems to have played for 7 different teams in the league this season, also plays Sunday League football.

Is that allowed if he is (presumably at that level) paid to play? Or can you get contracted to play Saturday only but at a higher level?

I do watch some Sunday League team on YouTube called SE Don's who are extremely good (got the last 8 of the national Sunday fa Cup this year which is no mean feat at all... our own Burghfield fc got knocked out in the last 32 to the team who are in the final playing this Sunday called Highgate Athletic, who are absolutely oxf*rd brilliant from what I've seen on YouTube. SE Don's lost to the other finalists from Mile End in London called Baiteze fc.... again full of semi pro players).

Anyway... these London Sunday league teams are full of players at semi pro level, some up to conference South standards, but mostly in and around isthmian league levels. SE Don's are made up of players from Hythe Town, Glebe and other teams around there

What are the actual rules because at this rate Sunday league will just be a semi pro league soon as the quality of the teams are getting insane around the London area anyway.

On a side note people should watch these games. For Sunday league on YouTube the quality really is good. Proper commentary, cameras, production values and crowds for normal games and finals that push between 300 to 3000. Good for grassroots football.

Despite the result i really enjoyed last nights match. Great atmosphere, must of been about 600 there from Basingstoke and generated an excellent atmosphere. The first goal in first five minutes just killed Basingstoke. Couldnt settle and get going. Had a couple of great chances first half but were not converted. Right winger from Chertsey is some player and will go far.

Got more desperate in second half and the sending off and no replacement keeper gave new hope but if anything that galvanised Chertsey. They went 3 up - and then Basingstoke scored one from half way line direct from kick off when goal keeper was still running back celebrating

Wasnt a 4-1 game but Basingstoke paid price for conceding early.

Terrible antics from their goalkeeper. The video is on Twitter for all to see. Pretended to be struck by a coin, runs off after referee and then goes down clutching his head. All was getting a bit tasty towards the end of the match.

Anyway, good luck to Chertsey in the final. A great season for Basingstoke Town, on an upward trajectory, club and ground getting slowly sorted, hope for next year.

Maidenhead Utd have issued a statement today that they have agreed with the Royal borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to have a new community ground at Braywick park- subject to planning of course.

Maidenhead United Football Club (MUFC) is delighted to confirm we have now finalised an agreement with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM), subject to planning, to acquire 3.7 hectares of Braywick Park for the delivery of a new community stadium incorporating a range of football, athletics, and wider wellbeing facilities.

This is an exciting development for the Club, its supporters, and the local community. It brings our vision to locate the club within the heart of the community as part of wider integrated sports, recreation, and wellbeing hub at Braywick Park a step closer.

We expect to submit the planning application for the new ground and associated facilities later this year. If approved, our ambition is to deliver an EFL compliant community stadium the town can be proud of, incorporating state of the art facilities which will support the growth and development of our football and wider community wellbeing programmes, whilst securing the long-term sustainability of the Club for current and future generations.

We are committed to engaging with our supporters and the wider local community regarding our proposals. Our consultation will be commencing over the coming weeks, initially with our supporters and key external stakeholders during May. Wider public consultation will take place in early summer 2022.

The club will be hosting our first supporter engagement event on Monday 2 May from 5.30pm in Stripes, following our game against Aldershot Town FC.

Chairman Peter Griffin, Chief Executive Jon Adams, and York Road Trustee Graham Alfred will be on hand to share further information and answer questions about today’s announcement. All are welcome to attend. The bar will be open for refreshments.

Not at all, Brownlie is sought after, excellent contacts. Players are now wanting to play for the club, budget will increase. He will be there next season.

I went to the Bracknell v Basingstoke game in November. Basingstoke were 6 points behind, but with three games in hand, so it was a crucial fixture at the time. In the end the gap was 26 points.

NOTE ... PO Final for IL1-South Central Chertsey v Hanwell is on SUNDAY 1st May 15:00 KO

...don't know if it moved or I just got it wrong on my post above - (not unheard of 8) ) - I knew one of the Finals was scheduled for Sunday too?

...oh and the BH Mon SLP-S Final at the Skyex between HandY and 'Boro is all ticket and likely to sell out - they still have a fairly reduced capacity there .... only about 1,600 - not sure what it is about licences and that place ...has been built for ages now and still not fully utilised? I'm certain they'll have to sort something should they go up?

...tickets go on sale to 'Home' fans on Sat AM

Anyone know when the constitution of the non-league leagues (steps 1-4) will be announced, I presume it’ll be mid June but do the leagues announce the dates for its release? For example Bracknell might find themselves in the Southern Premier South instead of the Isthmian Premier.

The positive (other than being still pretty close to the town centre) is that unlike many moves, this isn't one being forced upon them. That should mean that they've decided on it because they can see it being a clear improvement on York Road, rather than knocking something up on the edge of town which meets some bare minimum standard.

Tried to work out the runners and riders for National League South for next season. Currently there are 21 teams with 2 promoted one-off whom is Maidstone and 1 relegated either Billericay or Welling. With the league expanding to 24 teams there will be 6 new faces. Dover and Weymouth from NL. Taunton and either H & Y/Farnborough from Southern Premier. Worthing and either Hornchurch/Cheshunt from Isthmian Premier. Although if it’s Cheshunt they might go north. Other possibles for that slot are Banbury and Gloucester.
