LWJ
Four Of Clubs 157 A.F.C. Stoneham 6-1 United Services Portsmouth
- not sure why the tie was switched to Basingstoke but the reported paying att. was only 15 (Fifteen ?) :?

Apparently problems with the plumbing at Stoneham

^ from the referee

Hampshire FA owning both sites probably the main factor why they ended up in Basingstoke.

...quick round-up of midweek games - B&B ties are featured over on the TB thread ably managed by R&R ....

- not that many lower level pyramid league fixtures this week - so starting up at STEP02,

in the NAT-South
Chippenham 0-1 Slough Town - Jackman grabs three points for 'Rebels' as the game entered the last 10' - 'Sluff' up to 9th.
Farnborough 0-1 Chelmsford
- got to this pretty insipid encounter - 'boro on top for long periods but couldn't force a lead that their possession around the visitors box may have warranted.
- Home side missed a pen just before H/T
- Oliver Pendlebury, released by Wycombe, was looking tidy enough for 'boro down the right but it looked to be heading for the dreaded 0-0, when CC grabbed a slightly undeserved winner from out of nowhere in the last 5' or so to stay 3rd behind Ebbsfleet and Havant & W: hosts remain in the bottom four just above Hungerford.
- early days but tonight showed probably why Chelmsford are up at the top of the division and boro' are struggling to make headway so far at this level.

Hungerford 0-1 Hampton & R
Oxford City 1-1 Ebbsfleet - leaders first dropped points as City level just after HT
NAT-North
AFC Telford 0-1 Brackley Town
Banbury 1-1 Gloucester City

Southern League Premier - Central
Kings Langley were beaten 1-3 by Needham Market on Monday
- Southern - on the same night
Beaconsfield 1-3 Harrow B
Bracknell Town 1-1 Hanwell Town att 278 - Esprit with a 5' pen for 'Robins' but the 'Geordies' were level by HT.

...on Tuesday night leaders Weston-s-M and Truro in 2nd, both won to open up a small gap at the top
Chesham were held 0-0 at Hendon , Winchester suffered a heavy 2-5 defeat at Merthyr, whilst North Leigh got a battling point at home to HandY but stay in the bottom four.
Below them Plymouth Parkway got their first win to get off the bottom on GD (above Hendon) - beating Salisbury 3-1 in front of 403

Little else to report:
In Binfield/Basingstoke/Marlow's division (IL1-South Central) early leaders Northwood dropped their first points of the term in a 2-1 reverse at Walton & H.
Cobham beat Banstead in CCL-Premier South
Two games of note in the Hellenic: - in the Premier: RWBT won 1-0 at Thornbury to go 3rd and in Div One Abingdon Utd and Long Crendon shared the points in a 1-1 at Northcourt.

...and finally .... in the Wessex One tonight (Wed 28th) Whitchurch and Ash drew a blank at Longmeadow - leaves the 'Jam Boys' in 5th and 'managerless' Ash stay one off the bottom - above a hitherto 'pointless' Fleet Spurs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...and and 8) since I'm here I may as well post up the Preview for this coming w/e
... is the next (3rd) Qualifying Round of the FA Cup - still a small handful of STEP05 sides surviving - indeed two are drawn together ensuring one can carry the 'minnow' tag into 4Q.
Signs that Basingstoke Town have turned a corner - although struggling Leatherhead will be a test of that on Saturday.
Gosport Borough 2-0 North Leigh
Hartley Wintney 0-1 Truro City – Truro go top as W-s-M were on Cup duty. Hartley are up at Beaconsfield on Monday night
SL1-C
FC Romania P-P Aylesbury United-- originally scheduled for Friday night but presumably the groundsman interceded here due to the wet spell late in the week - and got the game put back to this coming Tuesday, to prevent issues for the ‘landlords’ (Cheshunt) Cup Tie yesterday?
Didcot Town 0-3 Ware
Kidlington 1-0 Thame United att 107’ Kiddy’ stay 2nd behind Ware
Welwyn Garden City 3-2 Highworth Town 1st half goals from Edenborough and Barcelos not enough - as WGC level after the break by the hour mark & grab the winner in stoppage time.
CCL-PN
Broadfields United 1-4 Reading City City move top on GD – 100% 5 from 5: as are Ascot – together on 15 pts with London Lions and Egham – who have both played 3 and 4 games more. Burnham and Flackwell are in 5th & 6th – Ascot & Flackwell meet this coming Tuesday (4th) at the Racecourse Ground.
Spelthorne Sports
2-1 Holyport
Windsor
0-3 Wallingford & Crowmarsh game to forget for Barry Hayles – sin-binned late on and scored the 3rd for W&C around the hour mark – the dreaded og from a corner. Wallingford’s first just before H/T had been from the same source, swinging straight in reportedly?
CCL-PS
AFC Croydon Athletic 2-1 Guildford City
Thame United Reserves 0-3 Eaton Socon
WESS-P
Hythe & Dibden 5-1 Alresford Town Town certainly been on a serious slump since finishing top in the season curtailed by COVID (19-20) – have ended up at the lower end of the table in the 2 subsequent terms and sit only one place above bottom club (and pointless) Blackfield & Langley, who themselves were STEP04 not long ago.
Promoted Lav. & Ford finding it tough too but surprise leaders are fellow promotees Bemerton, also from the Salisbury ‘conurbation’. They have 7 wins from 7 as do AFC Portchester.
WESS-1
Amesbury Town 1-2 Petersfield Town
Andover Town
3-2 Fleetlands
Ash United 4-3 Ringwood Town
Some absolute crackers in there. Yeovil vs Taunton for one and from my days of reffing Havant vs Weymouth is always a feisty affair. Tricky one for Eastleigh, they would of preferred that at home. Aldershot will also be nervous
Wonder if Banbury might be a bit put off in having to travel south. Should be a good gate for Bracknell though.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday night saw me up at Holloways Park (Beaconsfield Town) for the visit of Hartley Wintney in Southern League Premier - South.

Home side grabbed the spoils in a tense game between two hitherto struggling sides. Nathan Minhas racing clear of half-way and slotting home the only goal - having just come on as sub after the hour mark.
HW had Imran Kayani in their line-up, very recently joined on a month's loan from Slough - looked lively but much starved of service.

In the same section tonight (Tue) welcome win for Nor Lye 2-0 over 3rd placed Hanwell and HandY got the better of Gosport 3-2 at the Skyex.
In One Central Thame held high-flying Berko 2-2 whilst Aylesbury Utd drew 1-1 at FC Romania who are now co-managed by Jamie Mackie apparently?

In Isthmian One South Central Binfield edged out lowly SCR - Efedje with the winner around the hour mark. 'Moles' still unbeaten move up to 2nd behind Northwood.

Up in the National League there was a late win for Maidenhead 3-2 away at bottom club Torquay - Clerima winner in injury time.
Woking drew 1-1 at 'Sarfend'
Dorking shared the points 1-1 at home to Yeovil,
The Sh!ts drew a blank at home to Eastleigh
Chesterfield beaten at home again this time 2-3 by D&R: whilst the top two clashed at Meadow Lane - County coming out 1-0 winners over previous leaders Wrexham, in front of over 10k

Not a lot of action down in the CCL tonight, only half-a-doz league games across the divisions: in Premier North - Ascot beaten 1-2 at home by Flackwell and lose their 100% record :Burnham won 2-1 at Edgware to head the table two points above 5 teams on 15 points - include still 100% Reading City.
Premier-South Knaphill bt Guildford 2-1 : Camberley won 2-1 v Sheerwater @ Krooner whilst Abbey Rgrs went down 1-3 at Redhill.

Hellenic Premier wins for two of our featured Premier clubs Shrivenham and RWBT
- Wantage rather disgraced themselves :o - in a fairly remarkable B&B Cup Tie - exited 0-9 [NINE] at Buckingham Athletic - were 0-7 behind at the break!! Probably more on R&R's B&B thread over on the Team Board?

South Mids One Amersham won 3-2 v Letchworth to move up to 5th

As mentioned in the w/e Review: WESSEX Premier AFC Portchester and Bemerton Heath clashed in the 100% 2nd host 1st - the home side coming out 2-1 winners in front of an astonishing attendance of 552 - doubt Portchester have seen anywhere near that many too often? Decisive goal on 93' too........
Blackfield & Langley broke their duck with 0-0 at Baffins.
In WESSEX One Andover NS thumped Amesbury 5-2 but sadly Fleet Spurs remain pointless going down 0-2 at home to Totton & Eling.

Dagnenham and Redbridge are in the midst of a ridciulous run of results at the moment - goals from everywhere:

Last 7 results

v Bromley W 4-1
v Notts County L 0-5
at Wrexham L 1-4
v Altrincham W 4-1
v Barnet W 5-4
at Dorking L 1-5
at Chesterfield W 3-2

So won 4 and lost 3.

Goals For 18
Goals Against 22

– got across Reading to jn 12 and onward without too many alarms still suffered some delays en route mostly cross-town - unlike the grid-lock of last week when the M4 was shut WESTBOUND.
Along to jn 15 then up and across to M5 via Sw!ndon to Glawster then M5 to jn 9 – bit of a windy route up to the SW Mid nr Evesham.
Nice picture-postcard like town – ground is close to the High St out on the North-East side alongside the Avon.
- only arrived about 10-15’ before KO – no progs left but doubt they print that many.
Basic facilities but OK for STEP06 - nice newish feel to the clubhouse – food was variable did sausages and Pastries
Game had an even first half but the hosts made a few changes after the break and pulled clear without too much difficulty – stay 2nd behind Milton.

Stranded Dagnenham and Redbridge are in the midst of a ridciulous run of results at the moment - goals from everywhere:

Last 7 results

v Bromley W 4-1
v Notts County L 0-5
at Wrexham L 1-4
v Altrincham W 4-1
v Barnet W 5-4
at Dorking L 1-5
at Chesterfield W 3-2

So won 4 and lost 3.

Goals For 18
Goals Against 22

40 goals in 7 games.

BTTS is a given then.

Free money - hope you were all on!!

....yeah missed that on the Edit somehow- was pleased they got through.

Bit far flung for the featured clubs but I do like a bit of Nor Lye.

For yonks they managed to be top divisional scorers, or close to it but we're forever missing promotion cos they leaked goals almost as prodigiously...... natch the first time I actually got there I'm certain was a 0-0 in thick mud.

Sure they beat Bracknell 9-0 home and away one season too .....

It's a tricky one to find -tucked off the main road through some gloomy woodland - in the grounds of Eynsham Hall with very little else nearby - which I think is now a conference / venue type set up.
As I've said before you used to be able to see the Hall from inside the ground and the big uplighters gave it a very gothic spooky feel. My kids loved it.

The rise up to Step 3 has meant they've had to build a proper surround. The seated stand is quite a feature too viewed from opposite. Hopefully they've got a bigger sign in off the road now too - I went not all that long ago probably 2021 ...

They eventually built a new bar area behind the goal - think you used to have to trudge all the way back past the Rugby/Cricket Pitches to the old Rugby Club at Half-time for a beer.

Also Mitch Parker was there earlier this season .......

Enjoy!

I always liked Merthyr badge and the abundant use of the Diablo video game series font.
