SPECULATION - Brian Howard

by Coppell's Right Footed 11 » 30 Sep 2008 13:26

Brian Howard of Barnsley

Good central midfielder and would be a healthy addition to the squad.

Is available for around £500,000 as hes out of contract this summer.

A bid has been accepted from an unnamed club, which isn't Sheff Utd..

have we made a sneaky bid?

Obviously loan with permanent in January

Isn't this breaking the rules? Signing someone on loan with a view to a permanent move - if you can do that, that virtually removes the transfer window between clubs not in the Prem?

Remoured to be Birmingham and the fee is believed to be £800k. However Blades fans think he is signing for them and has had a medical and has been training with them today.

You can loan players outside of the transfer window in the football league, and even a Premiership club can agree a fee for a player now. Combine the two actions and you are within the FL rules.

Nor should we.

A vastly over-rated player in a position where we have 4 very capable players is a waste of time IMO.

A loan and then an agreed future transfer for the 1st of January is completely legal.

Can play on the left as well. But central midfield I think we are pretty sound. Left midfield we have Convey as well. Even Kebe could play on the left I'm sure.

Given it's where he spent most of the time playing for his previous club and also where I believe Coppell has said he prefers to play, I'm sure Kebe probably could play there.
