Starts Monday. Doesn't mean we can't bring him back at a later date when our academy becomes Cat A. We'll be looking for a number of new coaches then. (Bryn would be one I would like)

There's a good chance Southampton will be Category A straight away though, and it looks as though we won't be that high for at least a couple of years.

How did you come to that conclusion?

From everything I've heard we don't have the staff or the facilities to be one of the elite academies and it's unlikely that we'll have them in place when the review is done in March/April time and if that's the case we won't be able to get Category A status until at least the 2014-15 season.

Good luck to Murts, however I am not happy that Mr Reading is working at Southampton!.Look forward to him adding to our success again in the future in whatever capacity. In a perfect world we would employ all our ex favourites!

Which ones would you employ?

Again, how do you come to that conclusion? Why do you think it will take 2-3 years to upgrade to Cat A and hire the extra coaches/staff we will need? Is 1 year to achieve that a bit ambitious?

As far am I'm aware the academies will only be reviewed every two years, you can't just be upgraded/downgraded at any point. meaning the next update will be in April 2014.

But there's no reason you can't upgrade the facilitie and operate as a defacto category A until the review happens.
we don't have the investment in place yet to actually do that until after next month though.

Agree with this. The certification would have to wait 2 years but the coaches and the quality of coaching can be in place within months.

The point of having more youth coaches, more youngsters on our books, better facilities to develop them? No point at all.

But unless you've got Category One status you run the risk of losing players to 'better' academies for a pittance.

No.

Currently there'd be a fee agreed or decided by tribunal.

RFC won't invest £2.5M per annum on Cat One facilities unless they get the protection that Cat One status brings. Have a look at what EPPP brings http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/15381652

MM Sorry I really must stick up for Karen Murty here.

From personal experiences back in the day, she is not an attention seeking WAG - far from it.

How interesting that Mrs Murty got air time again last night over the phone...........on a brilliant night for Reading football club she feels she still has to get involved and jump on the band wagon.....

WHO GIVES A FCVK WHAT SHE THINKS!!! GET THIS BITCH OFF THE AIRWAYS!!

Really?

Understandably there were lots of good interviews with former players last night (especially Michael Gilkes I thought) yet we didnt hear from any of their wives?

Why is this?

Would you be interested to know what Mrs Gilkes thought of the game, perhaps we should give Graeme Murtys mum a call and ask for her views?
