jellytot Carrico.. Saw him on the club website. Probably first day. Looks to be blowing like a old man. Doubt he will be fit for a few weeks at best...

Also it was probably his first day. I wonder what his first thoughts were? Bloody cold here isn't it? Why did I leave Spain again?

He might need to prep up on his Geography if he thinks he's just left Spain...

Just testing :D

I know it´s only the 6th Jan, however starting to get a little worried by this transfer window. Great work to secure Carrico so early, but would have thought given our current plight we would have had a couple more lined up to sign at the same time. Time is crucial at the moment and it all seems to have gone a little quiet, with even the Rogic deal looking a little wobbly at the moment.

Tis the Reading way though, we always play our cards close to our chest with regards to signings. Surprised that the Rogic (potential) signing is so out in the open, and we didn't know about Carrico until it was announced - aside from the ITKers of course.

jellytot Doubt we will get Graham as we are struggling in the league plus also we do not like spending more
Than £3m on anyone. He might be a good signing but if finances are tight i would rather see
Us spend in midfield.and out wide ss creativity and ball retention has been awful.

Where are the experienced PL pros Brian? Get them in!

He was asked the question in the post match interview on BBRB.....when asked about prem standard players and that he had previously said he intended to bring in a couple with Prem league experience...hes now said that "in an ideal world, he wanted to bring in a couple prem league experience"

...sounds like it may not turn out to be an ideal world......time will tell

Aaron Cresswell from Ipswich anyone? A young left back who's highly rated and wouldn't cost us nearly as much as some of the other names being mentioned. Was the player of the season for them too I do believe

Would be a great signing, but i wouldn't have thought LB is a priority right now, despite the lack of pace we currently have) there. Shorey has been one of the more consistent performers this season.

Was he really any better than Gunter or Cummings were last season at full back? I think we need Premiership experienced full backs if we really want to improve defensively because being good in the Championship isn't enough on this seasons showing.

I was just going by some of the comments on here and around the web (dangerous to take them seriously I know) and thought I'd just chuck another name into the mix. But I definitely think he would be a good signing for the future with neither Shorey nor Harte getting any younger

Wonder if guilfi would be even more of a bench warmer if spurs succeed in buying wes sneijder, and if so would he fancy a loan spell till the rest of the season with us? Just hoping this carrico chap is good as a defensive midfielder, assuming we stick to a 4-5-1 guilfi would be our saviour as Guthrie isnt good enough week in week out behind the lone forward for us to do the unthinkable and get out of the relegation zone, but just can't see it happening. We may be in a relegation scrap but surely we must have the ability to interest some good players out there, to play in the best league in the world with a chance still of staying up?

Bent would be a good addition as a loan if the reason he's not getting a game is due to money/bonus, but again I can't see this happening either, he'd go to a bigger club. What concerns me is in situations when we are chasing a game and you look at the depth of our bench, there is nothing to get excited about. I know there was lots of talk about Rhodes before he went to Blackburn but I said at the time you can just tell if a player has it, and he does, scores with both feet and head, reads the game well tetting in great positions, quick, strong and big, he's the sort of player I'd love us to have on the bench, looking at his Blackburn stats 24 games 15 goals and 4 assists, from 39 shots, to me that suggests very impressive stats only half way through the season... So if there was a chance to capitalise on blackburns current situation id be knocking on their door more than a Jehovah's Witness!

TheSiege I just want RFC to improve the squad whatever the endgame may be. So far, I have been impressed with our signing and the most talked about incomers are also good. However, Graham scores one goal in three games. He is not a good addition to our strikers and those people who think he is too good for us are still living in the 4th div. Rhodes needs to be saved from the the Blackburn debacle! He is worth three times as much as Graham!

Completely agree. Graham is not sufficiently good to improve us.

:|

He's miles better than Roberts, Church and Hunt.

huge levels of agreement here

id suggest Dorrans to add creativity, Huddlestone to add experience and all round centre mid, then buy N'Zogbia to add a bit of flair

1. oxf*rd off newbie :D :D :D
2. why do we need a winger? we have decent wingers in Kebe, HRK, and Mccleary, and mcanuff can do a job. n'zogbia isnt better than any of them atm
3. i would love dorrans and huddlestone here but i dont think its much of a possibility to be honest.

Not very impressed with our business in January thus far.

I thought that with our desperate plight we would get our business all done in early Jan.
We have signed carrico (ok) and Akpan (from div 1) MAYBE AKpan is for the future but
We need players that can make a difference NOW. We need players who know the pl.
It is so disapppinting and embarassing to see who we can get in comparison with clubs of a
Similar size (soton, swansea, qpr etc).

Now we are losing Rogic to Celtic (not an exciting signing anyway) Really hoped we would have a go
At staying up. That does not seem the case. Perhaps more quality signings will follow.. Time will tell!

Which do you prefer?

The old days, when we only heard about our deals when they were (almost) done and dusted and in between we complained that nothing seemed to be happening and what was the club playing at?

Or now, where we keep getting raised expectations (Wellbeck, Arshavin, Huddlestone, etc) and people promising to jizz their pants, only for hopes to be dashed

The more our club is linked with these players the more our status grows. I'd rather be talked about than not.

The Chronic and few other locals are running with a story that we are talking with a prem club about a perm move for an established player this morning.

http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport ... r-signing/

Fingers crossed it's not a shammers reject.

Any guesses people? Any ITK's hear anything?
