YateleyRoyal Are you trying to tell me that he was the sole reason for both team's relegation form? If that's your view then you sir need to study the game of football a little more, you see it's a team game

Not the sole reason obviously, but crap wingers = less chances = less goals, something we were too slow to do something about when we had Oster as we went down. It's hilarious that even that doesn't seem to have sunken in to some.

I agree, Oster was not good enough and a decent replacement should have been brought in. But the main reason teams lose games is because they concede goals, not because they dont score. Therefore IMO, wingers are fairly low down the list of players whose fault it is

Depends - I'd say Pompey's defence was quite strong - James, Johnson, Campbell, Distin, Hreidersson.

I see your point - all are great players individually, and on paper they look good. However on last season's performance I would tend to disagree. All (except Johnson) are the wrong side of 30, and with the uncertainty surrounding the club last season, is it any suprise they underperformed.

I still maintain that Thomas was released without having a proper chance and I think he could carve defences up like a Christmas Turkey at this level

Teams go down because they don't score enough. If you're scoring you can win games. If you're not you can't. You can't stay up with draws.

We were staying up the season we went down, until we stopped scoring not long after Xmas.
