He will only go if he doesn't get offered a new contract.....surely this is non-news, player out of contract, agent putting his name about to clubs to inform them he is a free agent at the end of the season incase Reading do what they did to Oster!!!?

If we lost Hahnemann to Spurs for money, it'd be a great deal.
As long as we got a replacement in.

"Hahnemann, 36, is out of contract in the summer and has reportedly become disillusioned at the Madejski by Reading's refusal to offer him a long-term contract due to his age."

Wally Downes has dismissed the transfer rumours circulating about some of Reading’s key players.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has been linked with a move for American keeper Marcus Hahnemann and Downes can understand why the shot-stopper is being looked at.

He said: “I don’t know who has linked Marcus to Tottenham, but he has played well enough and I think he is a Premiership goalkeeper.

“Whether we let teams speak to him is a completely different matter. He certainly didn’t let himself down last year in the Premier League and any decent manager would be looking at Marcus Hahnemann if they think they have goalkeeping problems.”

Downes admitted that Monday’s 3-1 win over Coventry City was almost a win-at-all-costs game.

“It was important to win on Monday. The draw between Wolves and Birmingham meant we could close up a couple of points on them,” he said. “It didn’t matter how we won as long as we won.”

The Reading coach added that he does not expect any changes to the side for tomorrow’s game at Barnsley.

He said: “The lads are doing ok. They have been lively in training and we have come through the week injury-free.

“Doobs (Michael Duberry) did very well against Coventry and possession is nine-tenths of the law so I’m sure he’ll keep his place

would be quality sale tbh USA is decent at this level but at prem level and his age, think we can certainly get someone better in.

Not really. He wouldn't go for anything more than 500k. We couldn't sign an instant replacement for that much money who is a good Championship player but could also make the step up if we reach the Prem next year.

FWIW I don't think he's a good enough keeper for a club that should be challenging for Europe ( ) but still a Prem keeper.

gomes has been playing fairly well in the last couple of games though

imo we would not turn down any offers for USA

i dont think fedders is good enough to replace marcus and hamer/ andersen are too inexperienced

if USA did leave we would have to get in a new goalie

Why would he not go for more than £500 K ?

There is no reason whatsoever that we shouldn't expect several million for him in the right circumstances.

Ideal Federici is as good as Cudicini, he just needs a bit more experience.

The only way in which Craig "Calamity" Gordon is a better 'keeper than Marcus is age. And generally with goalkeepers it helps to be older. Therefore, I don't think we should settle for less than £12m.
