Sun Tzu The succession plan is already in place for when Coppell leaves. I could see Pards perhaps in an advisory role but not as manager.
How do you know the succession plan is already in place - and what sort of plan is it?? I would be extremely surprised if Pardew was welcomed back here with open arms.

How does anyone know anything....

Talk, listen, surmise, guess.....

I think there is a very likely succession for when Coppell decides to go. I can't really see Pardew being the answer unless it's in a Gormanesque sort of role.

Yeah, for a couple of games after Ian Porterfield was sacked. I don't think he won a single game.

I back Ade Bothroyd to be the next RFC manager as he fits the Chairmans profile for the job having done a great job at Watford on a low budget.

I'd welcome Pards back. I think we'll be quite an attractive prospect. Martinez is a potential, Saints ex-boss is around the club at the moment, or was recently and could be a decent outside bet. Dillon is an option. Parky another outside bet.

A whole host of people no-one has thought of as well probably.

The Quiet Man Why would we want to employ a tactically limited failed bullshit merchant like Pardew - his future is surely in double glazing.

Look at his managerial career and tell me seriously that he failed?

Depends how you judge it....

Currently you would say he is a failed manager having been sacked after an unsuccesful period at a club and not having found another club wanting to employ him.

You know he hasn't been offered work elsewhere then, or at least approached?

That frightens me. No no no way.

League 1 here we come if that happens. Same for Wally.

I know he's not got a job at another club.

So yes, I think it's fair statement at a broadbrush level.

You think he'd currently be described as a 'successful' unemployed manager ?

Um, Dillon's magnificent run of games after Pardew left. Yeah that was convincing. We need a fresh face, fresh ideas and preferably a proven track record!

NOT DILLON, NOT EVER.

I think his (successful and not so) track record says:

Division 1 runners up and promotion - Reading FC
Championship play-off semifinalists following season - Reading FC
Championship play-off winners - West Ham United
Premier League 7th place (?) - West Ham United
FA Cup Final - West Ham United

Vs

Premier League relegation - Charlton Athletic
Failure to return Charlton to the Premiership instantly - when the club's in the state it is!

I'd say he's one of the best qualified managers available right now!

Jesus, that was only, what, 3 or 4 games. You really would dismiss somebody on the basis of those games.

Alan Pardew only did one game as caretaker manager for us after Bullivant quit. And when he became the caretaker manager after Burns was sacked, he didn't exactly cover himself in glory, did he?

You really want to take a GAMBLE on someone that has never managed a football club full time before?

I don't. And I don't want to see all our hard work go down the pan on a risk like Dillon.

A Boothroyd, Pardew, even a Mickey Adams > Dillon.

With regards to Pardew being a caretaker first etc, yes fine, but the club was in a desperate state in the second division and a risk was well worth taking. We couldn't exactly go out and get a proven manager. Choices were very limited, and we struck gold with Pardew.

I think that fails to paint a proper picture though - with huge resources he didn't really deliver the level of success that he shoul dhave done ...

He's also got a big question mark over his judgement as a result of his West Ham time in particular.

Perhaps, but who exactly was in charge at West Ham when ol' egg head took charge? That's when all the success Pardew had there came to a stuttering halt.
