That frightens me. No no no way.
League 1 here we come if that happens. Same for Wally.
On what do you base that opinion?
Um, Dillon's magnificent run of games after Pardew left. Yeah that was convincing. We need a fresh face, fresh ideas and preferably a proven track record!
NOT DILLON, NOT EVER.

DeathySun Tzu You think he'd currently be described as a 'successful' employed manager ?
I think his (successful and not so) track record says:
Division 2 runners up and promotion - Reading FC
Division 1 play-off semifinalists following season - Reading FC
Championship play-off winners - West Ham United
Premier League 7th place (?) - West Ham United
FA Cup Final - West Ham United
Vs
Failure in Division 2 play off final with Reading
Failure to win Division 2 and narrowly missing falling into Play offs despite being several points clear with 10 games to go.
Failure in Division 1 play offs
Sacked from West Ham for poor form which threatened relegation
Premier League relegation - Charlton Athletic
Failure to return Charlton to the Premiership instantly, helping transform the club into Championship relegation battlers - when the club's in the state it is!
I'd say he's one of the best qualified managers available right now!

Madstad to Nadderud Of course it will be Pards if Coppell steps down as Sir John won't have to worry about any compensation as Pards is not managing any club at the moment. Pardew will be in place with Darren Caskey as his number two.

OO one short lived temporary position over 5 years ago means he can't be a good manager!
Not a preferred choice of mine, but he's an option and depending on how he's developed under Coppell potentially a good one.
You really are a thickie.

I actually like the sound of that

Madstad to Nadderud Oh I forgot, Pardew had loads of managerial experience before he became Reading manager! Also it's not as if Reading buy all their players from the PremiershipEx-players have to start somewhere if they are going to get in to football management, and I'm sure Caskey has a few good ideas. Pardew liked Caskey as a player so why not? Anyway, hopefully Sir Steve is staying for good.

Well Pards had run our reserves and been involved in our coaching set up.
Caskey has been out of any kind of decent football for years now, I was just thinking you had a real reason for suggesting him rather than a vague idea that Pardew might have 'liked' him....
Does Caskey have his coaching badges ? Is he doing any coaching at the moment ? If so to what effect ? How many ex players move from Halesowen to the Premiership without any coaching experience in between ?

Well we took Aaron Brown from Tamworth to basically the Premiership (we were going up). We wasted his time and our time with that signing so I wouldn't be overly shocked.

But we took him as a (reserve) player not assistant manager !!

All I'm saying is we took someone from non league to Premiership before, someone with no experience or standing in the game. In Caskey's favour at least he was a good player for this club, what he's got coaching wise I have no idea. It's not the worst suggestion is all I'll say. Pardew & Caskey I could see that, he'd probably want to keep Kev Dillon as well. !

Nezhen This is utter bullsh1te to a tee. Without, revealing too much, I live in Henley, I'm good friends with someone who knows John and his sister Netty (who also lives in Henley) very well and I know that as a man of principle (albeit with bad political judgement) John will never have Parjudas back at the club for as long as he remains chairman.
If he has been seen out in Henley, well that's pretty normal, as he regularly visits his sister and has a whole circle of friends in the Henley area. Just visit Antico's or Villa Marina on a Sunday afternoon and you might just get to meet the man himself!
Move on, stop making mischief and grow up.
This is totally untrue!
Huntley & Palmer A colleague here has confirmed that her husband has a lot of meetings with Nigel Howe and the subject of Pardew replacing Coppell should he decide not to stay has already been a matter of discussion within RFC. So there you go
