This Dervite looks like a possible fall back position after we fail to bring in Mancienne, who would be mental to go to us over Wolves.

Doesn't automatically follow, Ian.

Though not impossible, it's highly unlikely that Wolves will do WELL in the Premiership. They will be pleased to stay out of the bottom three.

On that basis, Mancienne will be thinking, "Another year a fair way away from home, on a hiding to nothing..."

Reading have a very real chance of being a promotion-chasing side. I'll be shocked if we aren't top-half and fully expect play-offs. Mancienne, thus would be in a winning team more often.

And we don't know where his wife/GF/BF lives. Playing for Reading he could stop in London.

On that basis I'm surprised we don't have more Arsenal/Spurs/Chelsea loanees.

To start with my thread title was just 'How exciting!!' as the chronicle had announced the imminent signing of two premier league 'stars'. It wasn't sarcastic then, but now it does seem to be.

It's just a hypothesis. It certainly looks very much like Mancienne won't be coming.

But I think Wolves will be fine, and Mancienne, IMO would indeed be mental to choose Championship football, over a team he knows already, combined with Premier League football, no matter how much Wolves struggle.

Especially seeing as he has an extreme outside chance of going to the World Cup next summer.

There are plenty of teams in and around London for them to go on loan to, and the Spurs and Arsenal players seem to favour going around North London or out East rather than down the M4 this way. I guess its because they all live in the Essex suburbs to be close to their training grounds

As for Mancienne, his reputation and profile will be much better served playing in the Premiership next season, even if its for a shite side. It might even help him more playing for a poor side as he will have more chance to impress!

Yes Ryan Bertrand. The Post reckons he'll sign before the end of this week which I guess means at some point today.

I saw Bertrand play around half a dozen times last season for Norwich.

While he was one of their better players (that's not saying much as they were relegated) he was far from being outstanding.

They played him at left back mainly, or left midfield occasionally.

My guess is that Bertrand may be being brought in in case Hunt goes.

Still can't understand why we're not in for Sammy Clingan from Norwich.
