I have never liked Benitez but I do kind of admire the way he answers a totally different set of questions to the ones posed by the interviewer.

Lets face it, he's only lasted as long as he has thanks to winning the Champions League twice. He's been woeful other than last year domestically in his whole Liverpool career.

Liverpool should have got rid years ago.

Royal Rother - funniest and truest post I've read on here for ages. Shame it was about 'pool, but you can't have everything. Had more than a soft spot for Liverpool growing up in the early 80's, but so difficult to feel for such a stubborn man.

Benitez gone by Sunday. Why, why, why Delilah?

To be fair Fed actually looked like his is worth £2M tonight.

With Rafa, I always wonder how much the language barrier means he can't always get his point across.

Did he really think his players 'were working hard and playing well' Liverpool are out of everything bar a competition they don't give a monkeys about, and it's still mid January. People can talk about the lack of money they've had or whatever but he still spent £20million on Aquilani, who our two youth players were better than him tonight. He spent £11m on Babel, £10m was it on Kuyt? These players are absolute pig shit. God knows what Inusa, Ngog and Lucas cost but I'd be looking to try and cancel their contracts. I wouldn't have them 3 at Torquay.

Reading 4th bottom in the CCC gave his side a chasing tonight on their ground. Both of Liverpool's goals have been massively fortunate in the two legs and even had Reading lost 1-0, were still lightyears the better side tonight.

1 thing is for sure, 2-1 and Rafa...That's a FACT.

Agreed, what was Benitez was thinking selling Xabi Alonso and replacing him with Aquilani. No grit, seems to wet himself anytime someone comes near to him, falls over if he feels a strong wind. People talk about Veron being one of the biggest flops in the history of the Prem, but Aquilani isn't fit to clean Veron's boots on his current displays.

I could name all the ridiculous signings Benitez has made, but if you look at the players he's sold aswell: Craig Bellamy, Peter Crouch, Robbie Keane, Xabi Alonso, John Arne Riise, Momo Sissoko. Even Danny Murphy and Jermaine Pennant would still walk in to the team. I also wonder what Liverpool fans would do to swap Stephen Warnock with Insua. The list goes on and on. If he spent less money on awful players and instead just tried to keep the players he had, they'd be in a lot stronger position. How he is still in a job is beyond me.

And still adored by the Liverpool fans for managing Houllier's team to the CHampions League. The problem stemmed once he started selling them and buying 'his' players as you correctly point out.

Liverpool make shock offer for Reading goalkeeper - exclusive
Published 23:00 13/01/10 By Darren Lewis

Reading keeper Adam Federici is agonising over a move to Liverpool.

The 24-year-old Australian stopper is first choice at the Madejski Stadium but dad Tony has revealed his son's agent has been approached about a dream move to Anfield where he would be understudy Pepe Reina.

Tony also insisted son Adam "would be mad" not to accept the chance. Federici Snr, an estate agent in his homeland, said: "If I was advising him, in the big scheme of things, you'd have to be mad not to not to take it.

"I spoke to Adam and his agent has said he was aware that there had been some contact.

"There is some substance to it, but I don't know how keen Reading would be to let him go given he is their first-choice keeper.

"Adam has always wanted to play with one of the top four or five clubs. We'll all know more after Thursday."

Federici was part of the side that dramatically knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup at Anfield last night.

Manager Benitez has been interested in signing Federici since the rising star's performance in the original tie against Liverpool, two weeks ago, which finished 1-1.

Federici became Reading's first-choice keeper at the start of the season and has 18 months left on his Royals contract. His Dad, however, admitted he faces a dilemma.

Federici snr went on: "To be part of such a big club would be a great opportunity, but he needs to play.

"Adam's main priority is to play regularly; if he plays the rest of the year for Reading he will have a full season as a No 1 under his belt.

"Reina is only 27, but if in six months or a year there was a first-choice spot, it would be a great move.

"It is an attractive move, but he would be going there as the back-up."

Sell, sell, sell. Might be better than what we have, but not by a great deal. This has an Andy Hughes about it. Cash in.

No reason for him to leave coventry for Reading.

If Federici was to be sold, then Reading wouldn't need to buy another keeper. Hamer would deserve a go, and also they could bring McCarthy back.

They've spent a bit this window anyway, and I don't think they'd be keen on selling him to a division rival, especially in our position. If Burnley or Hull manage to stay up I reckon they might go for him in the summer.
