Hound They are not just slow in pure pace terms but so slow to react at times. They were miles off the Soton forwards yesterday. They don’t dominate in the air either

They just don’t make a good pair. At this stage even without another signing I’d bring in Dorsett or Mbengue for McIntytre.

The midfield in front has been crap but it can’t always be the excuse for them.

I'd like to see a pairing of a big old 'safety first' Martin Hicks type and a pacey type who can play a bit.

At times in their development, both looked ready for Championship football, but clearly a couple of years in a woeful defensive unit has got to them. Agree reinforcements are necessary - hopefully the Harlee Dean rumour is true. But perhaps playing in a winning team and some clean sheets can get them both up to levels which I believe they are capable of.

Lewis Fiorini latest to be linked again. Seems that CM position is priority

Yeah, just seen this. Is he more of a holding midfielder i.e. protection for the back four?

Foundations of the squad are coming together very nicely. Hopefully we have some exciting loans lined up to add that cutting edge I think the squad still lacks to an extent.

Yeah believe so. Encouraging thing with Fiorini is he has plenty of experience as well, looks like 2.5 solid seasons

I believe he's more attacking in nature which means we're pretty well stocked in that position. One or two more DMs would be good alongside Savage, Senga, Craig and Hutchinson given that they're all inexperienced or have a history of injuries.

Wing is also kind of DM, but more in a deep player dictating play like Lewis Baker, as opposed to the physical, energetic ball winner.

The Reading Twitter seems pretty active today so I was wondering if another new signing might be imminent. Have we ever announced a new signing on a Sunday before?

Fiorini? He was on loan at Blackpool last season, seem to remember him being the stand out player at Bloomfield Road this time last year.

Can't imagine we'll sign someone on a Sunday, but it could be there's someone ready to be announced tomorrow morning.

I really hope we can get the goal keeper position right as that will help the defence. Someone I’d like us to sign is Timo Horn, but it’s probably not very likely.

Lumley was ok last year but in all honesty I would rather see Andresson given a chance, if we can’t get an upgrade on Lumley. Does anyone know if Button’s stats are better than Lumley’s?

Just as unlikely I know, but perhaps try and land Caoimhín Kelleher for a season loan, he wants to play first team football.

Posting here as apparently we have a sell-on clause. Olise is being looked at by Chelsea and Man City - release clause £35m

Yeah, he’d do the trick. It’s a tough one really as we need an experienced keeper, but I feel Andresson should be more than good enough for League One. I am not sure if we should keep Bouzanis though. Maybe bring in Button and let him and Andresson compete for the number one spot. If CBC signs a new contract he could probably do with a loan until January.

Oh to have another Shaka or Hahnemann, although Steve Death will always be my personal favourite.

I hope you are right but as Palace met his release clause I didn’t think that would be possible, but no idea tbh.

Chelsea reportedly have offered £39m.

Olise's agent seems smart. £8m release clause here, which we couldn't really argue with for a 17 year old with no senior appearances. Similar story at Palace - I doubt they could say no to £35m for a teenager with no top flight experience, otherwise they may have missed out. But a great shame we didn't negotiate a sell on clause too (yes, I'm believing Bowen over Twitter ITKs on this point).

Perhaps £8m and a sell-on clause was part of his release clause with us?

That said, hasn't Bowen previously said we don't have a sell-on clause with him, so I would expect to receive anything as part of this deal - unless there's some domestic version of FIFA's solidarity payment scheme, which would give us something.

Why is there even any speculation if Bowen said there isn’t ffs
