Speculation - Kieran Gibbs

by Sarah Star » 11 Nov 2008 22:11

He plays left-back or midfield - mainly on the left - and he looked really impressive tonight playing for Arsenal against Wigan in the Carling Cup. He goes forward with pace and defends well.

We nearly went for him earlier this year. Do we need another player like this? And would we still go for him do you think?

I bow to your superior knowledge on the matter.

(Never done one of these threads before. It's quite exciting!)

He did look quite good.

I liked the look of jay simpson. Went out on loan to millwall last year and did brilliant, and looked even better tonight

Whenever arsenal play a carling cup game, people will be alerted because there all young, and all good.

So many of there players would be great signings (Fabianski, Vela, Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs, Song, Simpson)

He would be a good signing...one for the future. A bit like Mancienne now on loan at Wolves. He looks like a terrrific young centre half..

Nobody listened to the commentary then no?

Or watched the game for that matter?

He got ripped apart throughout the whole first half by De Ridder.

Simpson was Millwall's player of the year and league one player of the year last season, I'm surprised he hasn't been loaned out to a c'ship side this season.

Let's hope Coppell steers clear of loan signings again.

The 106 felt good at least in part because it was OUR team rather than a load of players borrowed from somewhere else (with one small and almost entirely insignificant exception !).

I don't mind us loaning our youngsters out of course, but I'm not at all keen on us shipping in short term players from other clubs.

I was at the Emirates last night and I have to agree, he was probably their weakest player alongside Gavin Hoyte. Not great defensively and offered very little in the air.

You love us really!

We don't make sweeping generalisations like saying 'he got ripped apart throughout the whole first half', and we let you sound big and clever like offering you a chance to say 'pace down the left? We might need some of that if SHunt goes'. No one did though

If Hunt were to leave in January, we could do a lot worse than getting this guy in on loan.

You should probably be asking yourself if we could do any better though!

Not while we are in the chump. Therefore get this guy in for 6 months while we stroll to promotion, and then buy someone long term when we will be a more attractive proposition to players.

Wasn't he being played as a left back when he's spent most of his career at left midfield?

That could explain his defensive frailties.

Correct, he's a winger.
