Mail on Sunday, no thread?????

by The 17 Bus » 10 May 2009 19:47

scrolled down a bit, but cant see any mention of the report in the MoS today.

Coppell marginalised, Hammond being in charge of transfer policy last few months, must mean the window as well i guess, players unsure about future ,and JM resigned to SC leaving regardless of how things go.

If any of this is true then just perhaps we can see why stuff went so pear shaped after Xmas.

Have you got a link to the report?
Mind you it is the sister paper to the shitty Daily Mail so will read it with my salt firmly pinched.

Coppell faces final game

Steve Coppell will take charge of of his final game for Reading on tuesday if they are eliminated from the play-offs by Burnley.
Chairman john Madejski has accepted Coppell is on his way regardless of what division the club are in next season, as revealed by The Mail on Sunday.
Coppell has been a marginalised figure at the club in recent months, with director of Football Nicky Hammond dictating transfer policy. Several out of contract players and loan players are in in limbo until rrwading know who is in charge next season.
Coppell has no idea what his future holds when his contract expires at reading in june but has denied he wants to retire from football altogether.

Well Tabb was clearly a Coppell signing and a good one at that, so I guess this article isn't quite the truth.

Sounds like Coppell's agent is laying the ground for Coppell leaving blameless.

I read the article this morning but I didnt bother posting because it is similar to a previous story in the Mail which was denied by SC & the club. It is almost certain that SC will leave this summer and if he has told them so I guess its likely that Hammond & Madjeski are not involving him in discussions about next season. Therefore its easy for a hack needing to fill a few column inches to create a story by adding emotive words like "marginalised" but at the end of the day it means very little. Fact is SC ios in charge now and will remain so until our fate is sealed either on Tuesday or hopefully at Wembley on 25th.

Unless Copps was told that there was only one signing to be made, and others would have to be loans.

Sc has denied a lot of things, but does not mean he is not towing the club line, and rightly so.

No big issue to say loan players and out of contract players are unsure of their future - that'll be the same everywhere !

Ermmm, it's nearly three and half months since the transfer window closed. So what exactly has our transfer policy in recent months involved?

It's more bullshit from the Mail.

Coppell will decide whether he's leaving at the end of the season. Although he's probably talked to SJM and Hammond about his likely decision so they can contingency plan. Who exactly with a contract running out is someone we desperately want to keep?

No point doing contracts til we know where we're playing and who the manager will be. You can't blame the uncertainty of whether Coppell is satying on why we've been shit. It may not have helped, but we were in a commanding position pre Xmas. It shouldn't have been an issue.

What a load of laughable tripe. Obvious end-of-season issues made out to be in some way malignant, random suppositions that fly in the face of clear facts.

I'd say I expected better from the MoS but really... what the hell is anyone doing reading it anyway?

Little & Kitson on loan but they seemed very much like Coppell signings to me.

Just to make clear, I am not going to be offended by suggestions the MoS is sh*t, because I think it's the second most despicable rag in the country. The Mail being the 1st.

The operative part of my post was the "but really"!
