When last we met we competed nicely for half an hour but were well beaten in the end. I am hoping we can be competitive tomorrow on a day on which we face Manchester United as equals in so much as league status if nothing else! Personally, I don't think that the team we face tomorrow is anything near as good as their 1996 Double line-up whilst the Reading team from that era wouldn't be fit to lace the boots of our current side. Has the gap closed enough for us to get a result tomorrow? Not sure, looking forward to finding out.
I do hope that we'll see the same excellent backing which we gave them in the first two league matches at home. Don't boo the United players just because they are famous, good footballers - concentrate on your own team. It's thrilling to think that we are finally playing the best club side of the last 15 years in a league match, but whilst I appreciate their football it is Reading I have come to watch! Get behind our team.
