Yesterday we needed a Richie Bowman

by Cripple Creek » 02 Sep 2007 12:02

Probably only a few old timers remember him but we were definitely missing someone with a blonde beard, around 5ft 2 who ran a lot and played his little heart out. I'm actually quite serious that a Bowman/Strachan type figure is what we really need. Sadly, they are retired managers of big clubs in Scotland or own sandwich bars near London Bridge.

Bring back Jerry Williams - mind you I reckon even I could skin Kenny Sansom these days!

I want Roger Josyln back or, ideally, Ray Hiron to replace Ingar.

Gary Heale always "did it" for me. If you get my drift.

Failing that, we could get Stuart Beavon (Snr as he's now known!) back - I'm sure he could fit us in on a Saturday between decorating jobs.

Surely you mean Geoff Barker at CB - who looked about 50 even when he played for us...?

Dave Moreline owns a pub in Bournemouth, or so I'm told, I'm sure he could do the business as a sweeper.

What aboutTerry Hurlock....on seconds thoughts our disciplinary record is bad enough without his assistance.

Spot on. A Richie Bowman type player is just what we need right now. Richie at his best would have cut it at this level. He played most of the midfield positions but IMHO did best during his spell down the right side of midfield. A player with guts and skill.

Given the paucity of speedy wingers at the moment I wonder what Sean Evers is up to these days. One of the few players I have ever encountered who was 'born retired'.

What we needed was either a Danny Bailey type or perhaps the searching passes of a Colin Duncan.
