Convey, Hunt, Robson-Kanu and Bozainc. All very left wing. Shorey, Golbourne and Kelly to a lesser extent.

steve mautone was never to be seen without a well thumbed copy of the communist manifesto peeping out of his jacket pocket. it explained why he was so terrible at stopping the ball going past him, he was too busy musing on marxist idealism and how to propogate it in his native austrlia.

also bobby mihailov...clearly. usa is a minuteman clearly so i think the worm has turned.

Royalwaster Don't think Hitler would exactly qualify as a marxist.

Terrible crosser of the ball too.

Let's face it, even Lenin of the Rovers turned out to be a capitalist, so I don't think you've got much chance of finding a Marxist among real footballers.

After looking up Mr Madejski on Wikipedia it appears that he is a Marxist-Leninist and has contributed extensively to the Nicaraguan Revolutionary political organisation the FSLN. It also states that at the weekend he can be seen walking the streets of pangbourne wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt and reading Marx's Capital whilst organising soup kitchens for the needy people of Streatley and Goring.

Both of them? I hope they each get a proper fitted kitchen in keeping with the area.

Cripple Creek Out of curiosity does anyone know if there have been any footballers for Reading who have openly displayed hard line left wing views (ie. openly admitted to being a member of the Socialists Workers Party or the Revolutionary Communist Party)?
Thanks for your anticipated help.

I love the way two specific leftist groups were mentioned in the question! What a mental request

Serious if not accurate answer - Eamon Dunphy was pretty left wing / active in the PFA.

Steve Death was also willing to withdraw his labour on occasion, perhaps more for personal than ideological reasons. Bloody paper tiger.

As for the rest - running dogs.

Actually given their ages, Grzegorz Rasiak, Marek Matějovský etc were presumably members of some sort of Communist era youth movement:

David Crown was constantly being told to be a bit more left wing

Good point. I believe Rasiak refused to play Monopoly when away on the preseason tour. We should watch that one.

Who decided to visit the eastern bloc too? They must have penetrated all levels of RFC hierachy! What a threat !

I believe the OP is a journalist so I'm going to hazard a wild guess and say he was writing an article about politics and football.

Kitson was a red.

Sidwell too, but he tried to remove the evidence.

But, as Monopoly was originally conceived as a Georgist parable on the evils of land ownership, surely a refusal to play the game would be indicative of rightist tendencies? You obviously know nothing about football.
