Agreed.

Because of them I am only a lowly £9.71 up rather than into the hundreds.

chilipepper91 TL'H - do you ever get a bet wrong?!

Last weekend I didn't make a penny, but was using free bets so technically didn't lose out either.

Last night I staggered my bets with a combination of Athletico Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, Roma, and Barcelona, and part of my stake was also a free bet.

What I generally do is sign up to a bookmakers and place two bets for £50. I then get a £50 free bet activated, and as I'm careful, my two other bets usually come through as I only go for doubles, or at the most, a treble.

Then, using my free bets, I chase the long-shots, as in most cases you don't get your stake back.

If you notice the bets I list, the commulative odds are generally around 3/1 at best, which isn't particularly risky when compared to a lot of other bets I see.

So, my £50 returns, on average, between £100-150, and I unlock a £50 free bet.

The reason I place two £50 bets is to cover myself. If one doesn't come through, the other usually does so I'm not at a loss. When they both come through, it's cha-ching!

I could learn a lot about gambling off you!

However, what are people betting on this weekend? Obviously Reading are going to draw 0-0, but other than that...

I'm not sure about this weekend to be honest. There's very few league games, and those that are on look very evenly matched.

The FA Cup is usually very hard to call, so scribbled on my notepad in front of me here at work I have a provisional list of:

Plymouth,
Celtic,
AFC Llanelli,
Rhyl FC,
Bangor City,
Wycombe.

This is a just what I've scribbled down quickly in yesterday's lunch break, and are only local fixtures. I've not studied the odds yet, and I haven't had a look over-seas thus far, but will have a butchers later.

Anyone know what a £10 double on Hull and West Brom would return?

Oh, just btw, I got back to my losing ways last weekend.

5 million pounds, plus your tenner back!

Worth a punt me thinks.

At nearly 4/1 that could be worth a punt.

£126, big fella.

Thanks for that. I think that will be my main backing then, I might have a few quid else where as well, but nothing much.

Celtic, Villa and Ajax - would normally toss the stickies in as well but I just don't fancy them at Tynecastle.

(edit) Also in a separate effort - Wolves, Real Madrid and Barcelona

Stoke, Palace and Sheff Wed to win, £5 pays £48.60.
Stoke v Hull, Watford v Doncaster, Walsall v Swindon over 2.5 goals, £5 pays £29.40.

I think Villa are a good lay (chuckle) today.

I love Emerson Boyce!

My only bet of the day was to whack 80 sheets on Wigan as soon as they went 0-1 down to West Brom... couple of hundred quid up now! 8)

EDIT: I put £30 of my winnings on a double of Real Madrid and Barcelona, as the combined odds were so tempting. Not going too well though as Madrid are 2-1 down to Getafe with only 30 minutes left.

There's a couple of tempting games tomorrow though.

In my rare foray into the world of betting I placed a whopping £1 on a treble of Forest, Millwall and Portsmouth home wins. Portsmouth did their best to ruin it yesterday.

My £1 returned £7.28.
