RG30 Went all in from yesterday's winnings with a £40 Patent on Rangers, Villa and Man Utd. Account now reads £483 8)

Schoolboy question...but whats a patent?

It's a combination of bets placed on three selections, which includes three singles, three doubles, and one treble.

So if only one selection comes through then you still get a return, but obviously you would of put far more on originally. It's a sort of insurance policy when backing a treble that will mean you have money left in the kitty as long as at least one line is succesful.

The flipside is that if you went for a straight-forward treble and all three come off, you'd make far more profit.

three selections - 7 bets (e.g. 7 x 50p so £3.50) on 3 singles, 3 doubles and a treble

Thanks...although I like a flutter I'm not down with all the markets/terms etc...

Usually stick on teams to win/odd accumulator but nothing more than that really, best result this season was taking the bookie at the Mad Stad for £145 quid on a N.Hunt 3-0 double...so should 'break even' with him this season as I stick a tenner down each game.

My 'lump on' odds on system pretty much paid for my season ticket this year but the only problem is when a 'dead cert' doesn't come in...loses can be considerable and hit the kitty hard! Haven't started that this year but will be looking to sooner rather than later.

This season hasn't be good in the 'dead cert' front, what with the faltering form at the top of the league in terms of draws, and Arsenal's early season form really stuttering.

It's been the most open it has been for years. I'm hoping that into the second half of the season, the likes of Chelsea, Man United, and Liverpool will pull their fingers out and put decent runs together.

Agreed. Normally I go for doubles/trebles with teams who generally have odds shorter than 1.5, to basically double or quits, but normally I've lost them. It's not only the top leagues but all the leagues which have been so unpredictable.

I put a cheeky bet on Blyth drawing, 0-0 so far. Being mullered, but surely not...

If it was a single yes. If part of an acca it'll just get knocked off your slip. i.e a £5 Wolves/Brum double would now be a £5 Wolves single.

Going for a cheeky away double of West Ham and Derby. Not sure of the price yet, as I won't be getting to Corals until 2!

Maybe a lower league treble, but I'm unsure who's still on, I know I was considering Peterboro, Walsall and Leicester.

16.88/1 says Coral online. That is, if the Derby game isn't called off... pitch inspection at 12.

Having put in £5 and got out £3, I went for a Wigan/Man Utd double. £1 for £5 means I'm now on £7. Not a bad return, but could have been better had a few games not been called off...

I like the look of Leicester 3/1 at Palace.
