andrew1957 Astoundingly with Sheffield losing tonight the jar is still a tiny bit open for automatic promotion. We need to win all three and have a few results go our way but stranger things have happened.

I know I will get the usual abuse for posting this but I for one will not lose hope til it is mathematically impossible.

I personally think it will not be possible after tomorrow but if we do win tomorrow then we just need:-

Cardiff to draw one of their last 3 (highly possible)

Shef Utd to draw one of their last 2 (playing Swansea saturday- so a must win for the swans and then Colin's lot on the last day of the season...so again highly possible)

Brum to lose their penultimate game( 5.15 K.O. Saturday, against Prston - a must win game for Preston so slightly possible).

Us to win our last 2 - nO F**KING chance.

Play offs it is then!!!!!

Ok ...so there were 6 things needed for us to go up automatically... us to win 3, cardiff to draw one, shef untd to draw one and Preston to beat Brum.

Well Cardiff got the draw and we won one so far...

... 2 down 4 to go... could it happen....... still no fu**ing chance.

We live in hope.

3 down 3 to go

IT'S IN OUR HANDS! (Kind of)

by NR_Royal » 25 Apr 2009 19:29

Brum lost. I watched the whole match and wow, I really did not see that coming. Both of Preston's goals were fantastic! :o

Unfortunately, the chances of Sheff U not winning against Palace is about as small as my...................... , but KEEP THE FAITH! :D

Palace only need to draw to give us a chance - however Norwich may prove a bit of a test as I doubt they want relegation!

At least we can stop Brum from winning promotion now. I was dreading watching them celebrate in the away end all game on Sunday and desperately don't want it to happen. I'd also feel better playing them than Sheff Utd in the play-offs.

More importantly we can ensure that we come third and thus (assuming they win the lask game of the season) avoid Cardiff in the playoffs until the final.

Why would we want to avoid Cardiff? Their recent form is pathetic.

I think beat Norwich and the three-way finale might through up some psychological problems that no-one will expect.

In preparation, I am watching a three way someone filmed earlier. 8)

What makes you so sure Cardiff will finish 5th or 4th? They are playing so badly, and Burnley are only a point behind them.

I've seen our players put in some class performances this season, but I can't think of many matches with guts and fight. Sheff Wed away maybe. That'll have to change for Monday. After our run it's a miracle that we can take it down to the last day, just please don't blow it again......

Plus what's being said about Cardiff. If they lose and Preston win next week and their scores total a GD of 4, ie. 2-0 in each then they will miss out altogether.

Permatations

So if we win on Monday and beat Birmingham, we are relying on Colin oxf*rd to provide us with a draw at home to Sheffield, can anyone really see them doing it? It is perfectly possible I guess with hopefully the physcological element of the day getting to the Blades, but that is not the point in this thread.

If we won on Monday night at Norwich, but Sheffield then went on to get promoted, would you be more down knowing that we had the hope on the last day and having it knocked out of you? Or would drawing at Norwich and then beating Birmingham, still seeing Sheffield getting promoted be more frustrating?

I personally think seeing us "lose" promotion on the final day would be a lot more down heartening to the players and the fans, even if it is not in our hands. Beating Birmingham would be a massive result in the scheme of things, but would it not be more morale inducing to see Sheffield then get promoted maybe by a lucky equaliser after we thought we were going up. Would it not be almost in a way "better" if we drew on Monday and went into the last game knowing we were playing for the Playoffs?

stuff the season 2 games left

by shoey » 25 Apr 2009 20:23

I can not care how our form has been, how rubbish we have been at times, WE HAVE 2 GAMES LEFT

if we beat norwich, our goal difference is much much better than both sheff utd and birmingham

if we back the boys, we beat birmingham, and if, IF WARNOCK DOES OVER SHEFF UTD( now dats funny lol) we go up automatically!

i wouldn't of dreamed of this 2-4 weeks ago, but now its close

yes some things have to go our way, but stuff it, 2 games left, lets be positive, our season is 2 games now. I am a fan, I want to go up, and I think we can do it..........

crazy season, its why i love footy. cmon URZ!

NO ONE THOUGHT WE WOULD BE IN THIS POSITION, SO WHY NOT ENJOY IT CMON

After the excitement and twists of this season part of me wants to stay down now. Only about 1% of me though, I agree with your comments entirely.
