moo
2 world wars, 1 world cup Wahay let's just attack our favourite scapegoat.

The only men who really looked like they tried today were Harding and Super Marek.

The rest of the team was SHITE.

To single out Shunt is unfair. Yes he was awful but so was the whole team, starting with USA who pretty much potentially threw the whole season away for us with one stupid moment.

Yet we blame Shunt!!??

We can forgive USA, he's showed us loyalty and commitment for years,

Shunts shown us gay hair and a ego

Hunt carried us for stretches at the beginning of this year and December 2007. He was far and away our best player during those games if my memory serves me. And he has played well since January for the ROI. Not sure why he has been so inconsistent for us lately.

Because he doesn't want to be here!

He'll be gone before the end of June.

There's nothing inconsistent about Hunt's performances post christmas. Uninterrupted dross.

Dickie Davies Schards, you've seen alot worse, most assist in the div, 4th highest finish in the clubs history.

We have definately had far less talented players in the past yes, but I cant remember ever seeing another player in such a consistently poor run of form (bar two blips of about 8 weeks) where they have underperformed so badly but still been picked week in week out and still had the look of someone who thinks they are the best player in the division!!!

Hunt isnt top in the assist charts either, he is 2nd mind, but taking 99% of all the set pieces he bloody well should be!

Hunt over-performed for significant parts of 2 seasons, now he's come back down to the level of a normal average Championship player, although, having said that, apart from the frustrating final delivery, I felt he was one of our better players yesterday.

I am certain that if we saw the players' stats from yesterday he would have run further than anybody else, and probably have had more touches of the ball than anyone else.

Criticism of his overall quality is fine, but assess it on merit, not against what, for brief periods of his career, were levels of performance far above anything he has shown over the entirety of his career.

But, quite frankly, criticism of his effort and application is ignorant and disrespectful.

Completely wrong.

His effort and application has been ignorant and disrespectful of the people that have wasted time and money watching it.

Well said, RR. And in case anyone forgets, THE FANS voted him player of the season last year.

IMO SHunt shows the same problem as the team, over-thinking, playing nervously, losing the natural spark.

So many times yesterday he took an extra touch rather than pop in the cross, and then hit a player

BUT HE NEVER STOPPED WANTING THE BALL, NEVER STOPPED TRYING, KEPT TAKING THE FREE-KICKS.

true, Matty or someone else should have taken the kicks because he wasn't getting it right, but you can't criticize the guy for guts, passion and persistence

I agree, all that was wrong yesterday was he kept finding the first defender

But what people seem to overlook is all the rest of his game, the hard-work, the tackling back

I agree in some ways, but he has been rewarded with new contracts and touted about as the player who is capable of playng to the levels of those purple patches

I dont think he has ever been much of a player but his work rate and flashes of brilliance over the last few seasons seem to have convinced everyone else, most importantly Hunt himself, that he is some kind of top level Premiership and International performer. If he isnt why the hell has he become our top earner and one of the first names on the teamsheet?

Not overlooking anything Snowball, just commenting on his overall game and the benefits it brings to the side. Personally I dont think he has been good enough this season

As for the deadballs, the one bright point for me yesterday was that Hunt let Karacan get on them for once and we saw some better quality delivery when Hunt didnt hog the set pieces

What we need is loyalty, dedication and commitment from players at this club and, sadly, SHunt does not seem to be showing this from his comments.

Yes the rest of the team was shite, but the rest of the team aren't lining up to tell national newspapers how great they are and that they are off if we dont go up.

Schards#2 I'd be happy if he just left, not worried about a fee. The bloke a waste of a shirt.
not up to the required standard right now but

Very harsh comments

Agreed.

Although some of the quality we have seen previously was still missing yesterday, I felt he gave his all to the cause.

Hanging him out to dry at this stage of our season is not going to help anyone.

Get behind the guy and fingers crossed he will come good in the playoffs.

Dickie Davies Steven hunt is no 5m player agreed
Oh I don't know, Roy Keane is back in management so that probably makes Hunt a £10m signing.

9 in 10 of his set pieces hit the first man. Quite literally.

Runs into blind alleys, with no skill to get out of them.

He makes me want to hang myself from the stadium roof using the chord from his training shorts he threw at me.

Agreed. He wasn't that bad yesterday as people are screaming about. There were far worse players who played (Kitson, Karacan had a poor game to name some) and no matter what, SHunt will always give 100% effort, even if his quality is rather poor.

As for the comments from NOTW, do you really believe that shit?? I'll admit I rather see SHunt leave if we don't go up to give a fresh approach to our team and a nice amount of money, but do you really expect SHunt or his camp to go to the NOTW and issue a come and get me plea for the premiership on the day of a huge match?! Have some sense people, it's a paper who will post any speculation or possible rumour and make a news story out of it!

Snowball to say that all that was wrong was that he kept finding the first defender is laughable. Its a cardinal sin and a complete waste to consistently keep failing to hit a half decent free-kick or corner into the box time and bloody time again.
